I am running CS3, and frequently get the following error message: 'Could not complete your request because it is not a valid Photoshop document' And cannot open certain files. They are Photoshop files, created in Photoshop, and only used in Photoshop, and I am unable to open them - I am losing huge amounts of work and time

Simple blunt title instead of all the bullshit names people make that just turn the forum to a confusing mess of non-sense and rubbish. Notice to all you computer-lifers and herbs No kid shit... and lay off posting shit that better fits in pre-existing threads "Great" is a matter of perspective, so let's see where you stand. For example... taken in the "hobo grande hotel" under the FDR highway in Manhattan. New York New York

I had some work to share. But it wasn't anything that I cared to have critiqued, and it had nothing to do with graffiti. It wasn't a daily sketch, and quite frankly, I didn't feel like putting it in paper chase for obvious reasons. I figure this can be an Untitled art thread by the users. Post up any works of yours, sketch, painting, installation, WHATEVER. As long as its not really graffiti. Share. I hope this takes off and you dudes start posting up. Ill post up whenever I get new stuff done. For now, here's a few for fun watered down acrylics, pencil crayons, markers together on papers nothing crazy/special, just mess…

Back before the 12oz nuclear fallout of 2009, their was a thread in here called the Daily Sketch Thread started by purrplestain, basically the jist of this thread is that we brainstorm ideas of things to draw and then we come back on a due date and we post what we've drawn. I dunno, i always liked the idea of this thread. So if youre intrested post up..I'll start off with an assignment. *Somthing from the Garage/Utility closet. Post up by July 16th?

So part photo dump, part learning process and part inspiration to learn about the place I live: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles This is acceptable at most "real" taco trucks. Especially the ones in or around DTLA, just don't be complete ass about it. The fusion new school ones aren't too cool. Well depends on crowd and location. Sometimes dinner and a movie. Obviously look for trucks with big crowds. Now for some random flicks: Why? Because that's the Bank of America from the North Hollywood shootout. After seeing a documentary about I walked all the areas around where cops were getting shot up and all that. Can't believe…

Looking for a cheap, but effective camera to take some good flix with. I'll probably travel with it, so it can't be too big. Price range: $100-700. Was thinking about a Rebel xti possibly. Any suggestions?

Okay, so I've been trying to get a zine together for a while. I made some mockups that I printed myself but it took me way too long sticking pages together and shit. I currently have Scribus and Photoshop CS5. If anyone has experience with these then help would be appreciated. Or if anyone has downloads to good quality software for Mac, again, would be much appreciated. Any kind of tutorials, templates.. I've searched the net but maybe I'm just not searching hard enough. What I'm trying to do is an A5 zine, black and white. The only text will be on the front cover, maybe the back cover. Otherwise all the pages will be photos. Not sure how many pages but that doe…

This thread is for discussion of digital photography, I'll try to cover the basics of exposure, using manual setting on your camera, and how each setting effects the looks and qualities of the photo. I'll also try to touch on points to consider choosing you first digital camera. I feel like I should also say this as a disclaimer, I've never taken a class or read a book on photography. I've picked all this up as part of an ongoing process of learning as I go along. If anyone with more formal training, opposing views, or anything to add relevant to this topic, please contribute here. Exposure Exposure is the amount of light captured in the photo, too mu…

I want to start this thread to see if there's anyone here interested in scale models for Architecture, and other Civil Engineering study and design. Including for example, brigdes, buildings, parking structures, landscapes, water works, etc... Real or abstract prototype designs. Professional and students. I'll start with a few models I saw in a window of an architectural firm the other day.

So as many of you may or may not know, I have been on the screen printing tip for a while. Ive done a bunch of research online and bought all the stuff I needed, but never got around to hooking it up and doing it, until recently. Its a bit of trial and error, but I think I will get it on my next run... All together, I spent probably about 80$ on EVERYTHING (Shirts not included) I bought emulsion, emulsion remover, a large screen, a 500 watt work light (found it on sale for $10!), and some fabric paint. The squeegies I made myself out of some plastic tennis ball container I had laying around. The big piece of glass was also I had laying around the house for…

I searched the thread, but didn't find one about this. I know there probably was one, so don't jump down my throat for doing this. Basically, I felt there should be a thread in here for skateboard art. It was a huge influence on me, and i'm curious to see what other's were inspired by as well. ron chatman this board kicked ass: the stick-o-rama (came with a bag of stickers to design your own graphic with) chris pastras: Todd Congelliere Ray Barbee: Jeremy Fish's rendition of Jim Thiebaud's classic graphic: Sean Sheffey: simplistic styles: skateboard art:

For those not familiar with socal, the Inland Empire is what they call the area inland/east from LA. It's a vast wasteland of crappy houses and dirt. It's also way cheaper than living closer to the water. And it gets super hot during the summer. Pluses: we're close to the mountains and the desert. I love shooting in the desert. And mountains are pretty. I used to live in Huntington Beach, Surf City, USA, just about 10 minutes away from the beach, so being out here is a bit of a change. The IE was one of the hardest hit areas in the nation when the housing bubble burst. The economy is really bad here. So you see a lot of this kind of thing: …

YAH, FIRST UNTITLED THREAD OF 2009 :p Well the amazing render thread exploded, and most of my renders couldn't be called amazing anyway, so I'm starting this for anyone (which AFAIK is me and casek) to post their 3D computer graphics and works in progress, whatever. Random stuff: My little pony shitting a rainbow body material test render: Final scene: Friend needed a picture of broken fishbowls for the flyer background of a closing party at a venue called "The Fishbowl" so this happened:

So... This place used to be a fucking wicked place back in the day. It was a huge source of inspiration to me as an artist, and it really did feel like a sort of online community (albeit of hilarious wierdos at times). Then in 2007 or so life happened and I've been gone. I got old and the internet just kept getting bigger, scarier, and newer, and as any old person I was like "WTF". I missed the feeling of sharing and involvement that was had here at 12oz. Not really sure if anyone comes to The Babble anymore, which is fine. It can be the secret get-away from all the rest of the noise! This is "Your Art Thread - Volume 2". Cu…

hey guys, those of us who are mildly obsessed with photography are aware of the incessant accumulation of cameras and apparatus that I'm sure many of you are going through. Hopefully this thread will help to guide us to new equipment So, please post your cameras, a brief description of gripes and pros for each, and some examples of photos taken by unit. olympus om1 , classic, just got serviced in top condition. eg My old canon g5, afew years old, shutter lag makes it a bit redundant and a pain in the ass so its pretty much decommissioned from use . the new powershots are fucking great though eg: fuji finepix f810. a nice li…

I thought there was room for another photography thread where you can share the work of particular photographers. Favorite flickr flicks and the great pictures thrads in ch0 are more geared towards a series of unconnected photos from all over and I don't want to fuck up the flow in the photography thread. Post a selection of photos from someone whose work you think is exceptional, whether it's Cartier-Bresson or some next flickr person. Try and include a bit of text about them as well. I thought of making this thread after reading a really interesting book over the last couple of days and seeing an equally interesting exhibition yesterday. The book was on Wil…

Does anyone know of a clear coat type of paint/spray/sealer that would not affect spray paint. I've painted a drum set for a friend and he said he'd like it to be clear coated. I know a lot of sprays will eat into the spray paint, and that some varnishes and sealers will do the same. anyone have any experience in clear coating painted wood/plastic?

I've always been a pretty big fan of furniture design and I figured others might also be interested. I will do what I can to keep this thread alive, but I'm hoping that it will take on a life of my own, as I get tired of babying threads (as you would notice if you read my surf/garage thread in ch0) So anyway -- here's the deal with this thread. Post pictures of shit that belong indoors. Chairs, tables, lamps, desks, book cases and whatever else. Personal projects would be amazing, but I don't think anyone here does too much design. (i feel like i made this thread already, i may be wrong.. i couldnt find it.)

Here is a quick Thread i wanted to Make for anyone in Untitled wanted to put your up for critique or just to post. Mixed media, Oils Acrylics, Watercolors, portraits, realism, cartoons what not. You get the picture. Didnt want to say canvas thread or artwork thread in order to keep the garbage to a minimum. Studies are fine just make sure you accept the criticism well and gauge your self on level of work being represented. Here are some of my friends works to start it off. Dont worry they donot have to be this level to post this is just the first post.
