Daddy Screw
maybe we could all do pieces, then transform the previous piece into the current? i.e a X does piece, sends obj file to Y, Y transforms X's piece into his by re-arrangement/morphing/explosions, and so on. like a pass-the-parcel game of different styles. just an idea
QbaOner
hey guys sorry i wasnt around in a while.. so i have a lot of projects goin on but I think i can manage to do something with you as well... morphing pieces idea sounds cool since it shouldn't take as long as creating a post apocalyptic environment (even tho that idea is cool cuz i love dirty grungy scenes). Will have to look up how to morph from one object to a totally different one. I know you can achieve that effect with blend shapes but not sure if it actually works when morphing two different objects. any ideas? QbaOner
oh btw, one of my other projects is recreating an environment from Silent Hill ( I'm planning on making the Piramid Head throne room (even tho i'm not sure if it was in the games but the scene itself supposed to be Silent Hill influenced). Maybe we can use that for the other project..

QbaOner
good stuff indeed, i really like that door scene, the only thing that it gives it away as cg to me is no displacement on the floor. lol i've seen the pic of that door all over the place when i was lookin for tag textures.. joshuaself
Yeah no displacement and no depth of field give it away... I got all the tags from photos or blackbooks and layered and composed them on the door myself. this is the main character's room. We haven't done any animation in this set though. QbaOner
that's bad ass... is the character 3d? if so he's got a sick toon shader on!
QbaOner
btw. did u make a layered shader or just projections on the door?
joshuaself
the shot with the door and the light overhead is a camera projection on 3D geometry, I painted lighting effects on the door, etc... but would have UV'd it if I had time - no layered shaders or anything... The character in the other shot is 2D on a card, so it casts a shadow -it would be the illest toon shader no doubt. flickr
QbaOner
that looks great man. Would you be willing to trade your collection of tags for some textures? While I was in school I've managed to get a truckload of textures from some paysites thanks to my classmates (almost 7 gigs).
joshuaself
i'm down to float you some tags. - But I can't give you all my gems... and of course there's stuff I can't share. PM me. flickr

QbaOner
thanks man, I apprecate it. Right now I'm out of town and can't continue to work on this thing and it pisses me off, but before i left i blocked out a barbed wire placement and all is left is to finish the hall way and add a cross or some other symbol at the end of it.. besides that a pyramidhead would be awesome to have in the scene as well but i might just put his sword through the door and call it a day, depending on how much time i want to spend on it, but since this is for my new demo reel, then i actually might go through with it.. You take a series of pictures of real objects, load it into Strata Foto 3d and it models and lays out your textures. http://www.strata.com/products/strata_3d_cx_suite/strata_foto_3d_cx/ I've got a copy........ QbaOner
wow.. things are gettin easier and easier to make.. i wonder how does the mesh of an obj looks like out of that prog.. i believe it would still need clean up..

QbaOner
nice, it seems to be workin like FaceGen which is a program that was used in Oblivion and many other games, take 3 pics of your head (front, and both sides) and you'll have a pretty good mesh and textures with shitload of blendshapes.. mesh still looks too dense for that shoe.. too many tries and the detail on the model is not there, just an overall shape. I guess a normal or displacement map would fix that..
