IOU
Angel City Brew. I don't have a good flick of the outside. Right off Alameda near 1st. Big warehouse type joint with lost of artwork. The owner is mad fucking cool. Let me catch a tag on my way out. Yeah I asked him. Lots of cool work in there right now. In the bathroom. I was talking to one of the artist and he hooked the book up. The beer is good at a decent price. The Charlie Parker is the goods.

Well hopefully I'll put something out there that isn't the norm. Thanks. And yes when you get out here a beer or two indeed.
IOU
Some more randomness: Park near my house where I chill and read. Always some other life chilling there. Last flick is from the Studio City Redline Station. One of the better stations.
IOU
So I still haven't officially been to MOCA yet, but I did check out the free jazz they got on Fridays during the spring and summer months. Clayton. Some Grammy winning cat. Cool things: They got food and alcohol. You can also bring both and find a grassy area and chill. Not so cool thing: Kids. Everywhere. Depending on my mood this can be good or bad. To be honest its a great way to kill some time, but jazz is too fucking vanilla these days. But you can't beat free. Thats just not right im gonna bring him a chair.
IOU
Haha.. Gee with the concern. This is late evening going til about sunset or so. Some more odds and ends: Still haven't been but definitely on my to do list. Me and the lady did some mini golf in the Arroyo Seco area of Los Angeles. Only eight holes and she almost killed a child but it was fun. That whole area is pretty cool in general. The nice part of the river, the biking part. Recommended. A while I got my girl to go with me and it was a good time. Go on a Sunday and go through Griffith Park(near the carrousel) for some drum circle action. Be real low key about drinking and smoking. Our favorite part was going here for some food and a liquor store for some beer. This right on Los Feliz just after east(I think) of the freeway. Grab all your crap and back to the river(side nearest you) find a bench and chill. Get one of these and a bunch of beer. I've been doing this same thing more less since the 90s. Somethings are always good. Should you want, there is this bar and the Bigfoot Lodge to chill at as well. The Lodge has a great interior. Me and the girl wanna do the ride again real soon. http://www.labikepaths.com/bike-paths/los-angeles-river/ Around the same area is a spot that me and the lady frequent called Nicky D's Pizza. Google it. Its good with outdoor seating. Recommended.

qsysue
Terrific thread! I went to that Layup show, too. Didn't talk to anyone and couldn't stay very long, but it was cool. I think I have a pic of that same "Never Forget" roadside memorial. I'll have to look for it. I live in the IE but I love shooting in downtown LA. Maybe I'll start an IE/desert thread sometime. I'll try to post some of my LA shots in this thread if that's OK.

qsysue
One of my favorite places to shoot in downtown LA is the Toy District. It's an area full of cheapo toy shops, so you get people with small children shopping there. But it's on the edge of skid row so there's trash everywhere and lots of homeless people. I love places that manage to be both colorful and grimey at the same time. This is a historic fire station, you can't really see it but there's a big throwie on the door: Redscale film. Same store as above, this time with my Zero Image pinhole camera (which I place very close to the ground usually): This came out kinda dark (Vivitar Ultrawide and Slim, toy camera, no exposure controls), but to the left is a homeless person sleeping on the sidewalk. To the right is a big Catholic church: Lots of eaten-up wheat paste in downtown LA: Taco truck: Yum yum. One of the alleys in the Toy District, just to my right are a bunch of vendors selling clothes and toys and stuff: Follow the trash trail: Lots of street vendors: That last is a cell phone shot.
IOU
Purgatory Pizza. Cool little spot and good food. Lots of good graffiti around this area if you look hard. Old and new. http://www.eatpurgatorypizza.com/main.html
IOU
Damn good flicks Q. The toy district is awesome. 9th and Central, I believe has a lot of good food over there. I need to make trip back down that way soon.

IOU
Finally made it to the Bradbury Building. Bad ass. These pictures do it no justice at all. Strange that such and old building would be used so much for movies about the future. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradbury_Building
qsysue
Nice shots. Isn't it incredible? Looks so plain from the outside, too.
IOU
A quick history lesson. I think this on the old DWP building but can't remember. It has the same type of work on the other side. There is a lot to explore in DTLA if you're really of that mindset. A lot of people dismiss it way too quickly.
IOU
Nice shots. Isn't it incredible? Looks so plain from the outside, too. It really is incredible. From the outside you would never guess it would be the way it is inside.
IOU
Walt Disney Concert Hall, causing accidents since day one. Thought I had more flicks, but guess not. I've heard that the sound is amazing and definitely wanna check that out. The extent of my creativity. Negative. Haha..
