I had some work to share. But it wasn't anything that I cared to have critiqued, and it had nothing to do with graffiti. It wasn't a daily sketch, and quite frankly, I didn't feel like putting it in paper chase for obvious reasons. I figure this can be an Untitled art thread by the users. Post up any works of yours, sketch, painting, installation, WHATEVER. As long as its not really graffiti. Share. I hope this takes off and you dudes start posting up. Ill post up whenever I get new stuff done. For now, here's a few for fun watered down acrylics, pencil crayons, markers together on papers nothing crazy/special, just mess…

The artist Ai Weiwei has not been heard from since Sunday morning Beijing time, when he was detained at the Beijing airport before a routine flight to Hong Kong. Shortly thereafter, a team of police arrived with a search warrant at his studio, in the dusty suburban village of Caochangdi. Officers took away eight of his assistants, bringing them to a police station in Beijing, according to a Twitter message sent out from his office shortly before it went largely silent. “There are police at the front and back doors, no way to go in or out.” the tweet said. Ai’s wife, Lu Qing, was kept at the studio with the police. Read more http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/evano…

http://www.polytope.net/hedrondude/polychora.htm I can't tell if this is art or math or both, which means probably both. This guy has been working on finding certain sets of 4D / 5D objects since the 90s with what appears to be the obsession of a total madman (aka great artist / mad scientist, whatever). He has the following to say: Anyway aside from the objects themselves being very cool looking if you enjoy geometric patterning, what's equally impressive is that part where he developed what is basically a human-pronounceable language to describe the features of objects that don't exist as far as anyone can tell, and is apparently known in wh…

Currently writing in an undisclosed location, about the studies I've done in darker streets of Oakland, and the various cities that I visit. I donned the graff writer cap for a second time, but it's another name that I use for that. Anyone who wants to read, pm me. By the by, Tattoo 13 has quite the story going on around Temescal. Way back in the day I was pretty good at writing. Although I slowed down over the years, I still maintained a lot of my writing and drawing abilities. One thing I never practiced was digital design. How did you guys make the transition from hand drawing to more digital and graphic design? If you had to teach yourself what you know now to your beginning self, what would you do differently? I see a lot of courses geared towards more web design and programming. Any of you guys know places that are geared more towards design? Tutorials, inspiration, or communities such as this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello everybody, My name is Michael and just started here at 12oz and wanted to see if any artists out there were interested in working on a comic book project. Currently the project consist of 15 people and our next title we are working on revolves around graffiti, everything from the character to the art. The title will be about 7-8 issues and 23-27 pages per. I do have colorist that will happily help out but if you prefer to do you own colors, by all means go for it. But I am looking for someone that would be able to ink their own work. If any of this sounds interesting, please feel to reach out to me. This is not a paid job at this moment but I am rea…

I experiment with film a lot. I get bored if I'm not able to get out shooting and end up doing something crazy just to entertain myself. Usually it involved my Holga, because it's so easy to experiment with. Here's an experiment I did with making my own mask. I made the mask out of cardboard and put it in the camera. I ran a roll of film through it, then rewound the film onto the original spool. Then I flipped the mask over (in this picture, it's already been flipped), and ran the same roll of film through it. Results: The tricky part is trying to remember what part of the frame will be exposed.

Hey everyone, on June 4th I have an appt with my tattoo artist to get my newest piece done & was hoping someone could direct me to some references. Here is a pic of a Philly tat done in as in the city landscape new school style.Looking for stuff like this not tattoo just drawings/art etc. Basically my tattoo is going to be on my right shoulder. It's going to be like the city in the link. A skyline of buildings ( that pic is just a reference ) and I want my artist to add a bridge in there. Above the city will be a night scene such as stars etc and flying from and above the skyline will be a paper airplane then written out above that will be "Dream Big"…

YAH, FIRST UNTITLED THREAD OF 2009 :p Well the amazing render thread exploded, and most of my renders couldn't be called amazing anyway, so I'm starting this for anyone (which AFAIK is me and casek) to post their 3D computer graphics and works in progress, whatever. Random stuff: My little pony shitting a rainbow body material test render: Final scene: Friend needed a picture of broken fishbowls for the flyer background of a closing party at a venue called "The Fishbowl" so this happened:

I would like to share with you a book project that me and my co-writer Tobias Hansson have just completed. “Damn Son Where Did You Find This? – A book about US hiphop mixtape cover art” is a celebration of artwork of the modern mixtape. Focusing on five of the biggest designers, of the past 10+ years, the book features around 500 covers and in-depth interviews with KidEight, Miami Kaos, Tansta, Mike Rev and Skrilla. The book also contain an introduction with quotes from people like Trap-A-Holics, Evil Empire, Rob Marksman and Mixtape Wall. The book is limited to only 400 hand-numbered copies and you can see more about it at http://damnsonwheredidyoufindthis…

The Oaktown Report is the first in what is shaping up to be an ongoing series of digital zines focused on the wanderings of nomadic photographer Irina Weiss better known as her online moniker @Sugarbombing. After stops in Greece, U.K, France, Spain, Colombia and Mexico, Irina made a month long stop in Oakland where she collaborated with Madrid based writer Neko. The Oaktown Report is a byproduct of a shared love for the old school diy culture of trading zines, stickers and photos. With Neko providing substance and connection to a network of writers and Irina providing the preservation, the duo have compiled their work into a slick digital product and have been freely dist…

A few years ago I decided to go back to school. Volunteer firefighting led me towards a real interest in medical trauma care. Fast forward 3 years. Back at school, old, but doing well(3.7 GPA). My advisor at my college is pushing me to apply to top nursing programs, UCLA, UC Irvine, etc. This past semester however, I took basic drawing as a requirement. My art instructor has said repeatedly that she does not understand why I am a nursing major and not an art major. I said because raising kids as an artist is rough, and I because I would like to keep the passion of doing what I love for me, and not for what is expected of me. Curious to know if anyone on here is pursuin…

No Romance Galleries would like to invite you to the opening of “A Circle Unbroken: Tributes in Pattern” curated by Osiel Rojas, presenting works by Pablo Power. The exhibition also coincides with Power’s anticipated book “Manifold Machinations: Tribute Refined,” slated for publication by No Romance Galleries. This premiere solo show explores the precarious, peculiar relationship human beings have for patterns and their use throughout countless facets of art, nature, history and everyday life. The opening reception of “A Circle Unbroken: Tributes in Pattern” will be held on Friday, February 20th from 7-10 PM at No Romance Galleries, 355 Broadway, TriB…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4NcJkV4E2I we are releasing a book, titled Desperate Dreamers, containing the first year's work of Skid Robot in Los Angeles. It will contain around 100 images, and the stories of the people met along the way. The first 100 copies will be signed and personalized for our early adopters! We are raising money with these books to travel around the country for the year, helping the homeless folks that we come to know by increasing the quality and number of care packages we are able to give, as well as offset the cost of supplies while we gather and share their stories. These stories will in turn be used to create a documentary f…

I don't necessarily mean because they have a great story, or because they're art house movies, but more just the way they're filmed. What movies have impressed you? I think that Hero is one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. Especially the scenes in the woods with all the leaves falling. I couldn't find any still shots except this one: Here's a scene on youtube: When the leaves turn red at the end, it's just stunning. In the theater it was incredible. -- Of course, Stanley Kubrick is the master of interesting composition. My son's sort of obsessed with him right now so I hear a lot about him. I guess he started out as a pho…

2012. From Kero's 4th album "Color Theory". Produced by Kero One. *Disclaimer: Nothing was actually painted on or vandalized during the filming of this video. *Directed by Ross Ching, the video tells the story of 2 people (Ock and Yuri Tag, of Kaba Modern) whose lives are changed as an antagonist, played by Kero One, eventually uses his street art in a very mysterious way. As an ex- graffiti artist, it seems fitting that Kero One would pay homage to his early street art days with throw back references from the 80′s hiphop classic Beatstreet as well as legendary NY street artist Keith Haring. Watch the video to see how Kero One ultimately has a change of heart…

I am more of a "process" guy and not a "outcome" guy. I would rather see someones workshop and how they made something, then I would like to see the final outcome. Because of this, I am starting a workshop thread. This could be a corner of a room that you store your photo equipment or a shop like I am going to show. Wherever it is that you do your "work", show us. Below is my shop.

I've always been a pretty big fan of furniture design and I figured others might also be interested. I will do what I can to keep this thread alive, but I'm hoping that it will take on a life of my own, as I get tired of babying threads (as you would notice if you read my surf/garage thread in ch0) So anyway -- here's the deal with this thread. Post pictures of shit that belong indoors. Chairs, tables, lamps, desks, book cases and whatever else. Personal projects would be amazing, but I don't think anyone here does too much design. (i feel like i made this thread already, i may be wrong.. i couldnt find it.)
