The Black Arts at Outlaw Arts Curated by EKG

Recommended Posts

Last week, Outlaw Arts held the opening reception for “The Black Arts,” a group show curated by the pulse of the city, EKG of the newly created TAS (The Avant Squad) crew.

The group exhibition features works by Cash4, CarnageNYC, Darkclouds, Darkypoop, Droid 907, Isabel LaSala. Oyama Enrico Isamu Letter, Micah Lindenberger, magthree, Ashley Maximillian TAS, Noxer DOD, THE ABSTRACT NTEL, Shaun O’Connor, Poesia, Roycer, Gabriel J. Shuldiner, Skewville, Adam Void, Jefferson Wells TAS and Jhon Coley Wright. The show will be on view through July 26th, weekends 3-7pm and weekdays by appointment.

The collection of work exhibited is displayed in an entirely blacked out space, invoking the blackhole, dark matter and vacuums of space. This stark theme is described by EKG as “unlike the status-quo white-cube gallery experience,” and delivers. The space is decorated with black curtains, wallpaper, floor mats and is lit only by yellowish-orange candle-like glow. “This pulsating laboratory altar is a crucible for Black Matter concoctions, aesthetic mutations, and twisted transmissions on a renegade broadcast channel. No god, no satan, no system, no master; No dark, no light, no black, no white.” Check out the photos below to see some of the work on view.
