Looking for a cheap, but effective camera to take some good flix with. I'll probably travel with it, so it can't be too big. Price range: $100-700. Was thinking about a Rebel xti possibly. Any suggestions?

How Often Do You Wonder...*************** "Will I Ever Make a Living With My Art?"*** "This Affordable Course Gives You All the ToolsYou Need to Immediately Start MakingGood Money Selling Your Artwork,No Matter What Type of Artist You Are" *** My name is Steve Popkin and I’m a glass artist. This thread is for discussion of digital photography, I'll try to cover the basics of exposure, using manual setting on your camera, and how each setting effects the looks and qualities of the photo. I'll also try to touch on points to consider choosing you first digital camera. I feel like I should also say this as a disclaimer, I've never taken a class or read a book on photography. I've picked all this up as part of an ongoing process of learning as I go along. If anyone with more formal training, opposing views, or anything to add relevant to this topic, please contribute here. Exposure Exposure is the amount of light captured in the photo, too mu…

Ok so I am studying the above. It doesn't make me a therapist, just able to run workshops using creative artforms that can provide a therapeutic process. I've decided to finish up my foundation degree with a degree in counselling, then a masters (shaky on the detailsa as I have just started) cos I want to be an actual therapist of some kind but I think art will be a part of it no matter what. Basially, it encompasses all kinds of stuff - drama, music, visual arts, sculpture, journalling, even clowing - anything 'creative' that can be formatted or structured in a way that means you can provide people with the room for personal growth (generally based around person-ce…

I've moved to southern Utah. IOU suggested I start a Utah thread, but I'm sure I'll include stuff from Arizona and Nevada as well. It's crazy here, all the hiking and biking trails everywhere. Lots of rocky cliffs and stuff to explore. I've really only hiked one trail so far, it's called the Anasazi trail because the cliffs it takes you to are covered in ancient rock drawings. I love this stuff. This is a stitched panorama taken with my cell phone. It's almost a 180 degree view. Standing at the curve of a switchback in the trail. This is a cell phone pic, hard to tell in the sun what's in the frame. I climbed down into the rock…

Not sure if this has hit the ontz yet but I figured it would be good for those that regular the Untitled section. http://pinterest.com/ You end up putting a link in your bookmarks that when youre on a page where theres a pic you like and want to share you hit your "pin it" bookmark. people can re pin your pins and its just a big image sharing community. I enjoy it because you can select different topic sections your pins go in. If anyone wants an invite I know the my invitation page has a list for 4 emails...not sure how many times I can do it. so yeah if you want one PM me.

Tony Moore (comic artist for The Walking Dead, Venom, Deadpool, etc.) recently founded Cincinnati ComiCon and successfully funded the project on Kickstarter. To support the con, I bought a table in Artist Alley, but I'm not an artist. So, I'm running a contest to give away the table along with some KRINK art supplies. If you're an artist and would like to gain exposure by setting up shop at the con, they are still selling tables and you can enter to win mine at: http://www.artistalley.me The con will be held Sept 6-8, 2013 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. I am not affiliated with the organizers of Cincinnati ComiCon or KRINK. I'm just a fan, supporting the…

For those not familiar with socal, the Inland Empire is what they call the area inland/east from LA. It's a vast wasteland of crappy houses and dirt. It's also way cheaper than living closer to the water. And it gets super hot during the summer. Pluses: we're close to the mountains and the desert. I love shooting in the desert. And mountains are pretty. I used to live in Huntington Beach, Surf City, USA, just about 10 minutes away from the beach, so being out here is a bit of a change. The IE was one of the hardest hit areas in the nation when the housing bubble burst. The economy is really bad here. So you see a lot of this kind of thing: …

been thinking about this alot lately. i had a few drawings i wanted to frame BUT the frames out there were not very sexy NOR were they affordable! i think a good frame really completes a picture and a bad one ruins it... im not very familiar with this aspect of art so im curious... 1) whats a good way to get art framed and wall ready without breaking bank? 2) whats the secret to finding interesting and unique picture frames for do it yourself frame jobs (keeping #1 in mind) thanks

I thought there was room for another photography thread where you can share the work of particular photographers. Favorite flickr flicks and the great pictures thrads in ch0 are more geared towards a series of unconnected photos from all over and I don't want to fuck up the flow in the photography thread. Post a selection of photos from someone whose work you think is exceptional, whether it's Cartier-Bresson or some next flickr person. Try and include a bit of text about them as well. I thought of making this thread after reading a really interesting book over the last couple of days and seeing an equally interesting exhibition yesterday. The book was on Wil…

As discussed in the photo thread, this thread is where we'll take turns posting 10-20 photos with the idea that they form a body of work to be discussed, critiqued, appreciated, etc. For the sake of each getting the most possible out of it, there should be some discipline posting-wise, giving each of our work a sufficient amount of scrutiny. Maybe half a week to a week between posts of photos... Unless problems arise, the order (according to the order posted in the photo thread) is wafflecakee, oddio, loseryouth, mn1fuckos, leland palmer, artifacts and load limit. as more people respond/get interested, they can post subsequently, in the order that they respond. -----…
