I'm in the process of writing a proposal for a painted mural. The job has already been agreed upon, but we need something in writing so we have it on paper. I haven't written a proposal for a mural before, and I was wondering what should I include? Most of the proposals I have written in the past have been for digital and print work (Logo's, Web Design/Development, etc) so they tend to be pretty different. I figured there's some people here who have a lot more experience than me, so hopefully you guys can help. It's pretty rare that 12oz fails. Whether you guys have a template for a proposal/contract, or just a few words of advice, I'd appreciate hearing t…

So I'm graduating from high school fairly soon (yeah, i know. young) and i'm trying to work out what i want to do after school. Right now i'm in a position to have half a bachelors degree finished by the time i graduate, and as of now, i'm looking into potential careers involving two of my major interests- writing and photography. Naturally, i came up with photojournalism. As of now, my possible plan is to graduate, then dual major in english and photography/major in english minor in photography and follow that up with a photojournalism masters degree. To anyone who is involved in a career similar to this (even just freelance photographer or otherwise), is ther…

Hello: I'm working on a book project and need help finding a font. I am usually pretty successful at the hunt, but am going crazy this time trying to find this specific font. The font I'm looking for appeared on the cover of Wired magazine's April 2006 issue (pic hopefully appearing below). I'm looking for the white font on the cover that says "Games." If anyone knows the name or where I can buy the font, I would greatly asppreciate the help. Thanks in advance for the help. -Matt

How much is a box of pencils worth? Fifty pence? £3.99 if the pencils have rubbers on the ends? Well, if they're part of a Damien Hirst art installation , the value is £500,000. That is what 17-year-old graffiti artist Cartrain discovered when he pilfered some pencils from Hirst's sculpture Pharmacy. And that wasn't all – he was arrested, released on bail, and is waiting to find out if he will be formally charged with causing damage to an iconic artwork worth £10m. -- http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/art/news/damien-hirst-in-vicious-feud-with-teenage-artist-over-a-box-of-pencils-1781463.html I had never heard of car train before this, but fro…

Okay, hopefully this is useful for people I've been through about a million tutorial sites and so on for various programs, but mainly photoshop, and they were usually about using it to color or re-draw pencil/ink drawings I will do my best to provide links to the good ones I've found useful over the years. Bare with me Also, if you have any for other things, such as software, drawing, taking photos, anything, post it up. In your post, try to briefly describe what the tutorials are about, so people can browse through and pick and choose the stuff they need LINKS ----------------------------------------------------------------------------…

After i posted a response in KOH's thread i thought about, wanting to get some discussion going on art in general. I know a lot of us hate the bullshit art talk double talk, philosophy type gimmicks. But i think a lot of us have opinions on a lot of Art weather is be ancient, classic or contemporary. I just want to post some pieces up and get some critique and thoughts bouncing around. I like the way the abstract thread is , but i want to go a little deeper and wider than that. Just see where it goes. Comment and critique at will participation appreciated. Also Change the thread Name at will. Also included commentary on all Art in general. Ill start off with a co…

By changing the way you sign your name, write letters and yes, write graffiti, you can change your personality... The question is, is once hand writing analysis is understood on a larger scale by more writers how or will it affect graffiti types? exp... writing downward will fade due to the fact it is representing your life "going down hill"... http://www.handwriting.org/archives/99may_01.html

So i am supposed to create a portfolio. And i am supposed ot make it myself. Heres the thing. I thought it was going to be easy. Then i realised i need several of them. Secondly what am i supposed to place in it, photographs of things ive done. How big should they be. Thirdly, are sketches and unfinished work generally shamed upon? Because it is rare that i finish anything. Who has done portfolios for anything in the past. Please. Enlighten me. I have about two months.

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a cartoonist. I don't know when or why that dreamed faded, but it did. I still like to doodle characters, but I'm always looking for inspiration. So post up cartoonist or people who use a cartoony style in their work. Craig Thompson I'm not sure who it was, but I used to love the "Wind and the willows" books when I was a kid. I've always loved illustrations from that book. Marc Hansen Dave Sim
