MAR
Wow this thread. I was talking about this randomly tonight. I spent the better part of 4th grade trying to figure out how to draw one. I refused to let anyone teach me the trick, i wanted to figure it out on my own. For some reason trapper keepers were banned at my school, but i never found out why. IHATEU
i would say this easily dates back to the 70s imo... this has been around forever... im actually quite shocked its not easier to find its origins and info online... it also has zero to do with stussy and dont really see the relation... GnomeToys
something like this is what i wouldve typically drew at that age, but id have thrown in way more machines, foot soldiers, gore, & general variety because i was locked in a prison called school i always started with some kind of landscape, then drew around it then i found kidpix Oh fuck I drew that same picture at least 100 times back in the 80s. FFFUUUU

Lew Blum
The most up civilian symbol? Ive debated this with many people, graffers and non. It depends where youre from. These days, in my area, its probably Something BLOCK. D, E, etc BLOCK. 4:20 is pretty universal, as well as anarchy symbol, although these are more suburban in my opinion. The "S" was ubiquitous in schools, although it was trumped on walls by pot leaves and band names, in my opinion. Bla bla loves bla bla is always a classic, as is a crudely drawn pair of breasts. I think worldwide though, the most oft written symbol is the good old male genitalia. Its universally recognizable, can be used for diss or humor purposes, and can be drawn by the skilled and non skilled alike. The "S" was always a favorite though because it seemed to have no origin or explanation, but was widely known.
