Hacking Democracy http://video.google.com.au/videoplay?docid=4463776866669054201 What's this company called Ciber? Funny how they spelled it with an 'i' (eye). And this guy called Wally O'Dell, who could be directly responsible to rigging the past election. Btw, Democracy is BS, the USA wants to be a Republic. - Separate issue.

Reinventing Government: Fast Bullets and Culture Changes Reinventing Government first emerged near the end of World War I. As the proletarians were laying down groundwork for socialist revolution, the bourgeois were subtly doing similar. The bankers and the rich were creating their own form of socialism. A form of socialism that would have two classes, rather than one: "those that govern and those that are governed." Do not forget that in a true American republic, the people are supposed to govern themselves. [see Federal Reserve, World Banks] The philosophy of Follett comes from the teachings of John Ruskin, a 19th century Oxford University fine arts…

WASHINGTON (AP) – After his triumph in Iowa and third-place finish in New Hampshire, Mike Huckabee showed up Wednesday night for another Colbert bump. An earlier bump pushed Huckabee to the front of the Republican presidential pack, the candidate assured TV comic Stephen Colbert. "The only reason I'm the front-runner now is because of the Colbert bump," a mostly straight-faced Huckabee told the host of "The Colbert Report" on Comedy Central. "If it were not for that I would not be sitting in this chair, I would be probably somewhere serving hamburgers at a drive-in restaurant." Colbert, in a split-screen interview, then ran Huckabee through a series of questions …

DO NOT TURN THIS INTO A DEBATE ABOUT THE CANDIDATES. FUCK YOUR CANDIDATE. THIS IS ABOUT BULLSHIT ELECTRONIC VOTING AND DISCUSSION INVOLVING VOTING IN GENERAL. ONCE AGAIN, FUCK YOUR CANDIDATE.

Intro by Joe D’Aleo, Icecap, CCM I was privileged to work with John Coleman, the founder of The Weather Channel in the year before it became a reality and then for the first of the 6 years I was fortunate to be the Director of Meteorology. No one worked harder than John to make The Weather Channel a reality and to make sure the staffing, the information and technology was the very best possible at that time. John currently works with KUSI in San Diego. He posts regularly. I am very pleased to present his latest insightful post. By John Coleman It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. So…

okay so my classes are just starting, and one of them is a class called civil-military relations. it seems pretty good, and almost all of the readings are pdfs. if people are interested, ill post them in this thread. i feel like most of the people on here are very politicized, however i often find the sources that people use on here problematic. if people are interested, every week ill post a couple pdf files. the teacher seems like a pretty informed guy- was in the pentagon on 9/11, been to afghanistan four times, and guaranteed a lot of insight into the long lasting damage that rumsfeld caused in his tenure. let me know if people are interested.

LAWRENCE -- Jerome Dobson wants to make sure his field of research doesn't aid the greatest threat to personal freedom. As a pioneer of geographic information systems (GIS), Dobson, a researcher at the Kansas Applied Remote Sensing Program at the University of Kansas, helped develop the technology that now is commonplace in government, business and practically every aspect of modern life. Since 1975, Dobson has used GIS for a number of applications -- from conducting environmental analyses to identifying populations at risk of terrorism and natural disasters -- by combining data sets such as detailed population counts of every country in the world, terrain and nightt…

A follow up to our story December 30 on the Australian Government joining China is broadly censoring the internet. Now apparently if you believe in Free Speech you believe in Kiddie Porn, via the SMH: “Labor makes no apologies to those who argue that any regulation of the internet is like going down the Chinese road,” [Telecommunications Minister Stephen] Conroy said yesterday. “If people equate freedom of speech with watching child pornography, then the Rudd Labor Government is going to disagree.” No one equates freedom of speech with watching kiddie porn, only the Australian Government does. Whilst no one would disagree with the notion that kidde porn is a…

Challenge to Scientific Consensus on Global Warming: Analysis Finds Hundreds of Scientists Have Published Evidence Countering Man-Made Global Warming Fears http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/news_press_release,176495.shtml WASHINGTON, Sept. 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A new analysis of peer-reviewed literature reveals that more than 500 scientists have published evidence refuting at least one element of current man-made global warming scares. More than 300 of the scientists found evidence that 1) a natural moderate 1,500-year climate cycle has produced more than a dozen global warmings similar to ours since the last Ice Age and/or that 2) our Modern W…

Rallying-Dakar rally cancelled for security reasons Fri Jan 4, 2008 7:41pm GMT By Henrique Almeida LISBON, Jan 4 (Reuters) - The Dakar Rally was cancelled for the first time in its 30-year history on Friday due to security concerns in Mauritania where four French tourists were killed last month, organisers said. France-based Amaury Sport Organisation, in charge of the 6,000 kms rally, said in a statement they had been advised by the French government to cancel the race which was due to begin on Saturday from Lisbon. They said direct threats had also been made against the event by "terrorist organisations". The…

by Naomi Wolf Last autumn, there was a military coup in Thailand. The leaders of the coup took a number of steps, rather systematically, as if they had a shopping list. In a sense, they did. Within a matter of days, democracy had been closed down: the coup leaders declared martial law, sent armed soldiers into residential areas, took over radio and TV stations, issued restrictions on the press, tightened some limits on travel, and took certain activists into custody. They were not figuring these things out as they went along. If you look at history, you can see that there is essentially a blueprint for turning an open society into a dictatorship. That bluepri…

Sorry, don't have a link to any articles in english, but Two rivaling drug-dealing gangs in Vila do João, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil were having a shootout and decided to blast some bullets towards a helicopter flying over them. They started shooting at Santas helicopter while he was flying to a childrens christmas party in Baixa do Sapateiro, northern Rio de Janeiro. Luckily, noone was hurt by the two bullets that hit the heli. Still, the pilot decided to return to the airport and Santa rolled on with a car. Damn those guys, almost lost our christmas presents.

I was lucky to meet Fritjof Capra when I was 14, although I didnt understand even half of what he talked about I think he implanted a seed of interest in Systems theory. This is a pretty significant thing actually and surprising it took this long. Our drug laws are stupid anyway, but none the less... The Supreme Court ruled Monday that federal judges can impose shorter sentences for crack cocaine crimes, making them more in line with those for powder cocaine — a decision with a strong racial dimension because the vast majority of crack offenders are black. The court, by 7-2 votes in the crack case and one other involving drugs, upheld more lenient sentences imposed by judges who rejected federal sentencing guidelines as too harsh. The decision was announced ahead of a vote scheduled for Tuesday by the U.S. Sentencing Commissi…

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished in New York by Gerri L. Elder In New York, it seems that police officers are trying to entice good Samaritans into breaking the law. Maybe there aren't enough crooks on the street, so they have taken to turning people who are perhaps trying to do a good deed into criminals. Have you ever seen a lost wallet or misplaced purse and picked it up with the intention of returning it to its owner? Well, you should be aware that you may be committing a crime. Plainclothes police officers have been planting purses in department stores and then watching to see who would pick them up. In one Macy's store, three pe…

"The activist group Citizens for Legitimate Government said the six members of the US Air Force who were directly involved as loaders or as pilots, were killed within 7 days in 'accidents'." I dont know if this is old news to yaz, because i think i initially heard the story in here, but i did some quick googling and found the following info relating to (and confirming) the mysterious deaths of the minot crewmen and pilots. Seems pretty damn shady to me. The odds of these 'accidents' happening within a week to the same group of people is almost statistically impossible... http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/09/05/loose.nukes/index.html http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/09/0…

Monday, December 03, 2007 Blindfolded basketball, Part Two So after talking to Eric about this blindfolded basketball technique it occurred to us that naturally the process can be sped up in direct relation to the number of players that are throwing up basketballs. So we thought it might make sense to enlist the millions of people outside of Google. Eric says it's no use, since Google already hires all the smart people in the world. Or, as he put it, "If you're not already working at Google, there's a reason." But who knows? Sometimes a mob can create something beautiful. I mean look at Linux. Also, let's be honest. I've asked this question before..and it can make for pretty decent discussion. Sooo...on a large scale (national, international, etc.) is it possible for/how can conflict be resolved, or things be accomplished without the use of violence? For the most part violence only brings about more violence. As history has shown...a lot of the monumental happenings/changes in society have happened as a result of a war or something to that effect. Revolutionary war...civil war..the current war in iraq..etc. Even in nature..things need to die for others to thrive. However...one cant look past the influence Ghandi and MLK Jr had...on the same hand though...they were both gun…

Long thread coming up. Background information: There is a ticket-scalping company called StubHub, which serves as a place where assholes who by tickets, particularly season tickets, with the sole intention of scalping them at enormous profits, sometimes as much as 20 times the face value, go to sell their tickets. Stubhub encourages this and also makes a commission off of the tickets they sell. In Massachusetts, there is an anti-scalping law that limits the re-sale of tickets to anything below two dollars over the face value. The Patriots organization, as well as others, do not allow season ticket holders to re-sell their tickets at a profit or the season ticket h…

A man claiming to have a bomb took two workers hostage Friday at a Hillary Clinton presidential campaign office in New Hampshire, police said. The incident happened at about 1 p.m. Friday at 28 Main St. in Rochester. The man had what appeared to be a bomb strapped to himself inside the Democrat's office, according to Bill Shaheen, a top state campaign official.A witness said that she spoke to a woman shortly after she was released from the office by the hostage-taker.
