I was privileged to work with John Coleman, the founder of The Weather Channel in the year before it became a reality and then for the first of the 6 years I was fortunate to be the Director of Meteorology. No one worked harder than John to make The Weather Channel a reality and to make sure the staffing, the information and technology was the very best possible at that time. John currently works with KUSI in San Diego. He posts regularly. I am very pleased to present his latest insightful post.

It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create an allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the “research” to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.

 

Environmental extremists, notable politicians among them, then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild “scientific” scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda. Now their ridiculous manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmentally conscientious citizens. Only one reporter at ABC has been allowed to counter the Global Warming frenzy with one 15 minute documentary segment.

 

I do not oppose environmentalism. I do not oppose the political positions of either party. However, Global Warming, i.e. Climate Change, is not about environmentalism or politics. It is not a religion. It is not something you “believe in.” It is science; the science of meteorology. This is my field of life-long expertise. And I am telling you Global Warming is a non-event, a manufactured crisis and a total scam. I say this knowing you probably won’t believe a me, a mere TV weatherman, challenging a Nobel Prize, Academy Award and Emmy Award winning former Vice President of United States. So be it.

 

I have read dozens of scientific papers. I have talked with numerous scientists. I have studied. I have thought about it. I know I am correct. There is no run away climate change. The impact of humans on climate is not catastrophic. Our planet is not in peril. I am incensed by the incredible media glamour, the politically correct silliness and rude dismissal of counter arguments by the high priest of Global Warming.

 

In time, a decade or two, the outrageous scam will be obvious. As the temperature rises, polar ice cap melting, coastal flooding and super storm pattern all fail to occur as predicted everyone will come to realize we have been duped. The sky is not falling. And, natural cycles and drifts in climate are as much if not more responsible for any climate changes underway. I strongly believe that the next twenty years are equally as likely to see a cooling trend as they are to see a warming trend.

that article you posted is a simplistic piece of shit, however i do agree that there isn't conclusive evidence supporting climate change scenarios. I do think that the changes they are encouraging are good for the planet no matter what the catalyst is.

In my opinion scientists and environmentalists have realised after years of effort that the mass of humanity is far too stupid and lazy to do anything unless they themselves are directly threatened. So they hammer home constantly the message of global warming as something that is about to kill each and every one of us so that fuckwit humans actually can be bothered to turn their fucking lightswitch off when they leave the house.

yes... i will agree with the decade or to...

 

but regardless, the planet is warming at a alarming rate... like nothing that has ever been seen in recent (geological) time.... that is proven by science.. (which means that its still a theory, but for those of you who don't know please look up the scientific process, and what a scientific theory is).... Even if we don't see the most sensational predictions (that are picked up by the media) in the next 20 years.... does it mean that global warming doesn't exist? does it mean that its not man made?

 

This guy is a fool, sorry his argument is weak regardless... look at the data, even someone with a american high school education (can barely read and write, never mind any math skills) can see that science has shown that fossil fuels have some significant negative impact on our environment... and do seriously contribute to global warming...

i think i posted this before, but the earth goes thru cycles of cooling and heating every 11 years on a small scale. And also roughly every 5100 years on a much larger scale. Take a look at the last ice age, they are now finding green foliage that has been frozen under the polar ice caps... what does that tell you??? A VERY quick down swing in global temperature. Within the next 50-100 years you WILL see the temperature increase, the polar ice caps melt and the below sea level areas of the earth be covered in water. Not soley because of global warming, this only expidites the process. But because this planet operated on CYCLES... and it will continue to do so, long after we nuke each other off the face of the earth.

At this point, it matters not whether "Global Warming" is as bad as some say, or if you prefer the more apt phrase "Global Climate Change," the issue is with infrastructure.

 

What everyone needs to get through their paranoid, skeptical, rightist, leftist, whateverthefuckist heads is that things are chaaaaaaaangggiiing. Who cares to what degree, just that they are.

 

Beyond all this or that argument as to which model accurately predicts the rapidity of these changes, recognize that things are changing.

 

Even if this is just a natural thing, its a natural thing we need to cope along with. The politics of this or that agenda is subordinated by the recognition that we as humans are used to the dictum of changing what is around us for our needs rather than in any way curbing that impulse.

 

As mams pointed out, take it in terms of pascal's wager (now I personally refute this argument when it comes to religion, but I will accept it in this case). If, all the environmentalists and scientist in favor of accepting the notion of "Global Climate Change" are wrong, soo what? The changes that are being suggested, are more oft than not shit that shoulda happened fuckin years ago. Not even for environmental reasons, just for plain fuckin efficiency.

Are Humans Causing It?

• Sea level could rise between 7 and 23 inches (18 to 59 centimeters) by century's end, the IPCC's February 2007 report projects. Rises of just 4 inches (10 centimeters) could flood many South Seas islands and swamp large parts of Southeast Asia.

 

• Some hundred million people live within 3 feet (1 meter) of mean sea level, and much of the world's population is concentrated in vulnerable coastal cities. In the U.S., Louisiana and Florida are especially at risk.

 

• Glaciers around the world could melt, causing sea levels to rise while creating water shortages in regions dependent on runoff for fresh water.

 

• Strong hurricanes, droughts, heat waves, wildfires, and other natural disasters may become commonplace in many parts of the world. The growth of deserts may also cause food shortages in many places.

 

• More than a million species face extinction from disappearing habitat, changing ecosystems, and acidifying oceans.

 

• The ocean's circulation system, known as the ocean conveyor belt, could be permanently altered, causing a mini-ice age in Western Europe and other rapid changes.

The only selfish motive i can think of for the US government accepting climate change is that they may want to stunt Chinese industrial capacity by putting a carbon limit on them. I am not saying there are no issues, or that it is an environmentally friendly place, but if you can convince a government to do something that will save them money and provide environmentally sound alternatives to the myriad of issues possible, I bet they will be more apt to do it. This would not curb the advancement of a society, if anything only progress it, as it forces them to deal with issues they may have later come up against, as we are doing now within our own society.

 

 

My point was that there are people already working with the country of China to help their development in a way that allows it to circumvent inefficient and wasteful forms that we have already gone through . And in so doing would refute the idea that yummone proposed. That "the elites" would want to endorse the "myth" of "global warming" as a curb against Chinese advancement in the world powers.

This is lacks a necessary correlation between the propositions in the argument. While structurally sound, an argument is only as good as the presuppositions imposed within the form. With no reason to make the jump between dead babies and pollution, it means that there is no reason to attach the subject in the first clause to the predicate in the second.
