Has anyone heard of any of the railroad college courses out there. I was looking at the CSXT website today, under the jobs available section, and there was a bunch of stuff about a course taught at a couple of colleges around the country. it was a conductor program of some sort, it cost $4000 though. so i was just wondering if anyone had any experiece with this one.

just bored between classes, wondering what peoples take is on the "crew". a lot of people now a days say man i aint in no crew or i dont want to be in no crew. which i think is cool too because you have so many half ass motherfuckers out there its hard to be down with fools who aint really down, ya dig. i got love for all my crewmates. the ones i kick it with reguralry and the ones i only get to see 3 or 4 times a year. i think crews are a good thing in this graff game. but i understand the solo bombers position also. i always imagined freights to somehow replace that freindly comp between writers that all but died with the subways in nyc, and crews would be an intri…

The real question is why? Why do we paint on trains? For some, they just want to feel impotant within a circle of friends. To prove how much of a bad ass they are. Great. Others, they want the fame, man. They want to be in mags and see their flicks pop up on websites. Again, I say great. But for some, maybe a select few, it's something deeper. Regardless if you're from the suburbs (which I am, but the city is in my veins) or from the Slums, the feeling that comes with painting a freight, the adrenaline of entering your yard, the sounds and smells of the yard, are intoxicating. I'll be personal here, I had been doing graff for a few years before I painted freight…

cause they got some old pieces that may not be around much longer. here is why keeping up to speed with train news pays off: ---- "Ol'Paint Letter: The Union Pacific reefer followed in "Got Carrots" [pages 78-85, November] looks like it came from the Scrap Yard! I hope the running gear was in better shape than the body. UP could have at least sandblasted and painted it. This is bad public relations for the railroad; it doesn't even look sanitary. Why not use RoadRailers or express reefers that can run at passenger train speeds and can actually compete with trucks? James L. Weaver, Roxbury, Conn. I was out this weekend traveling and wound up just outside my favorite rail yard shortly before daybreak. I had just detrained and hit the brush and trees on the west side of the main when I heard a train horn and saw another train coming the other direction about 250 yards up the track. It pulled right up next to where I was at, stopped dead still and blew the air off the brakes. My usual jungle was on the other side of the wye from where I sat in the ditch with my ruck and bindle. Train crewmen got out and a switchman began coming down the ladder and walking all around on the other side of the engine. "Patience, " I thought, "is the number one quality that every tr…

Has everyone been noticing more or less people going over numbers, limits, and black boxes this past year? Ive noticed more and it worries me, with the popularity of fr8s, I think alot of kids and even older writers who didnt paint many fr8s before are getting into it without respect for this basic rule. All they want is there flix and they could care less about getting stamped or the longevity of being able to paint steel. I hope Im wrong and others notice to the contrary. Respect to the individuals and crews out there who just take the extra step to start your piece a few more inches to the right.

what do you do when you've just enjoyed a good night of painting with a few of your best buddies and as you're leaving the yard you happen to stumble across a montana rail link that you just painted a week ago; which happens to be the first one you've ever had the opportunity of rockin; and you discover two other local writers pieces instead of yours? well, first thing i would do is check the number since i write down every trains serial number in which i paint. once i see it matches i look at the (throw-ups really) pieces and can still see my innerbold underneath. most people would search for the writers who did this and beat them down. but i see no reason for startin…

aight, ive hit yards a few times but im not to quik wit my can control on pieces, i can hit up a yard wit throwies all night and not draw any attention or heat my way but when i try to do a piece it seems like it takes a dick year and every bull in the yard starts to come my way, so i need to find a nice layup some were so i can hit some pieces and not have to rush so i can get my can control crisp and still fast. and that way when i go to the yard i dont have to worrie about heating it up for the other writers that go there. so my question is how do i find a layup and whats the best way to go about hittin them and hows security on them just about any gerneral info you c…

im curious to know if all you serious freight heads hit only one major yard in your area or if you have plenty of them to go around. I only have one to paint, and even though im careful my spot is starting to get heated. and also what do flashin green lights on the factories along the tracks mean, and what does it mean when a line of boxes has a flasin red light at the end...and also if an engine is parked in the middle of the yard with its headlights on for a long time will the conductor still be in there...im talkin like hours of being stopped there...

Hey, ive come across some csx's here lately and i can see new cars and suv's inside them, im pretty sure the paint will get on them if i paint that train, and in some occasions they were like that all the way down the line, im talking about the silver csx's with yellow frame work that have vented sides with slots all over them, i love hittin these cars. so whats your guys opinion, should i still hit them or should i settle for a plain fr8, and have any of you ever come across this problem? later.. im far from experienced when it comes to trains, i know quite a bit of safety issues and what not, but my question is about benching. alto of yall bench alot and i would like to start doing it more, but everytime i go i feel so fucking suspect on the tracks. now when you go to just bench, like grab flicks, do you still stay out of the workers site as much as possible? is it a big deal if they see you or not if you just catching flicks? ese i know you had your little couch posted up by tha tracks, is it cool to sit off to tha side like that and wait for the trains? and is it cool to walk down the tracks to go and get your flicks? i know better than to run…
