mr.yuck
There's a wrench you need. I feel like it's called a basket nut or a basket wrench. Maybe the basket nut is that big gold piece. There is also another wrench that can help. It looks like a metal pipe with teeth on the end of it. They should be spaced out to fit in the slots in your drain. The pipe that fits in the drain will hold the drain assembly steady, keep it from free spinning, and then the basket wrench will unlock that gold collar. 1

Dark_Knight
Ended up sawing it off with a hacksaw. That tool didn’t work. This drain was super janky. Pulling the rest currently. This ducking sucks I would never be a plumber 1
Dark_Knight
Plumbing sucks but I got it done. Doing the reverse osmosis tomorrow. 8 hrs is enough. Plumbing is so shitty but rewarding when it all works. 1
mr.yuck
Hell yeah but that frying pan with the ass blown out worked to tighten that new nut under the sink though. I hate installing drains. Guaranteed it fucking leaks the first time. Looks good man. And you probably saved somewhere around $400. 1
ndv
@Dark_Knight let us know how you like the reverse osmosis. What stage did you purchase, is the system whole house?
Fist 666
I'm a firm believer in paying plumbers to plumb. 2

I’m going to try to install that part tomorrow. We’ll see how it works. Or if I fuck everything up completely.

Dark_Knight
Damn I did an unintentional face reveal on that sink pic. That’s what I look like if I am stretched out and distorted guys. 1
Dark_Knight
I put this thermostat in too. But it wouldn’t turn on. The c wire was attached too. Can’t figure that out. So I reattached my old one and it’s currently hanging so I can have ac during these 100 degree days.

It's through a history of thinking I could do it myself that I've come to terms with the fact that I don't fuck with plumbing. 2

I think 4 stage just means there is 4 membranes the water passes across as a filter medium. Nice work on the plumbing.
KILZ FILLZ
What do you guys think? Too lazy? Or work smarter not harderizm? Our washer/dryer stack is in an old closet I think. It’s a tight fit and I can’t really reach the ducting.

metronome
My next project is dead simple. Running a length of natural gas hose from the piping connect under my deck to where the BBQ will be living on the other side after my wife changed the furniture situation up.
fat ralphy
Started a project today with my pops - let’s hope we get done by Labor Day. Basically removing this wall to open up the Kitchen area. Will push into my living room space and allow me to have a real dining table area. The bar/counter wasn’t being used and basically was only a place to pile crap. 2
mr.yuck
@fat ralphythat walls load bearing isn't it?
fat ralphy
@mr.yuck yep - we will put up a temporary wall when we complete the tear down and then run a new beam.

fat ralphy
The new beam will run about 14 feet and will rest on the remaining wall to the right and the bit to the left of the door that juts out (cant see in picture). The wall on the right will end right at the start of where the opening is now. Snapped line will be the new height, should be open enough for a nice table or island with seating/cabinets. mr.yuck
@fat ralphyNice. Are you going to recess an lvl up in the ceiling and hide it or you gonna do an exposed beam across the room? Edited June 27, 2022 by mr.yuck
fat ralphy
@mr.yuck it will run along the line we snapped and we will sheet rock/edge it. It will hopefully end up looking similar to the current but just way more open space. 1
Fist 666
That seems real long for an lvl that shallow to span without popping up into the ceiling cavity. Edit, my perception of scale may be fucked up, too
