mr.yuck
The upstairs portion of this project has come so far and was almost complete. My cousin started installing the tile in the master bath. Sadly he was in a motorcycle accident last night and is mad fucked up. I'd rather have you make a speedy recovery than ever get this stupid fucking house done bro. Lets go. 4

fat ralphy
So far the tile looking fresh - a real cousin would be working regardless of injury bruh…..tell your cousin to recover on his own time. As the son of a general contractor we know the general rule: Cheap, Fast, Good - pick two. On a sidenote I have a small project at the house starting when my pops recovers from teh covids. Eliminating a wall between kitchen and loving room which will allow me a better dining table situation because /nodiningroomoner I will update the thread when actual work is done. (I picked good and cheap btw) lolz
mr.yuck
@fat ralphyI also picked good and cheap. Lol. He's doing better. His brain bleed finally stopped on its own without surgery. But now I gotta get my other guy to finish up the tile and he is gonna straight "break it off in me"
Dark_Knight
Idk the first thing about plumbing but I’m in too deep. Trying to replace everything but the sink itself in my kitchen bc it’s old and gross. Adding a reverse osmosis filtration system in as well. Problem. Is I can’t get this damn thing off. @mr.yuck figured you may know. I tried channel locks. Some other wrench I bought at lowed and just man handling it. Nothing is working. I’m in too deep to give up. Any ideas? 1
mr.yuck
There's a wrench you need. I feel like it's called a basket nut or a basket wrench. Maybe the basket nut is that big gold piece. There is also another wrench that can help. It looks like a metal pipe with teeth on the end of it. They should be spaced out to fit in the slots in your drain. The pipe that fits in the drain will hold the drain assembly steady, keep it from free spinning, and then the basket wrench will unlock that gold collar. 1

Dark_Knight
Ended up sawing it off with a hacksaw. That tool didn’t work. This drain was super janky. Pulling the rest currently. This ducking sucks I would never be a plumber 1
Dark_Knight
Plumbing sucks but I got it done. Doing the reverse osmosis tomorrow. 8 hrs is enough. Plumbing is so shitty but rewarding when it all works. 1
mr.yuck
Hell yeah but that frying pan with the ass blown out worked to tighten that new nut under the sink though. I hate installing drains. Guaranteed it fucking leaks the first time. Looks good man. And you probably saved somewhere around $400. 1
ndv
@Dark_Knight let us know how you like the reverse osmosis. What stage did you purchase, is the system whole house?

I’m going to try to install that part tomorrow. We’ll see how it works. Or if I fuck everything up completely.
