metronome
I thought I read that one of his favourite directors (the guy who directed The Descent) was directing the Battle of Blackwater episode as well, contributing to his favouriteness of that episode. HUSK
yeah I thought she was going to rape the girl with the wooden thing. That would've been more brutal.
Newer Bigger Better
Yeah but i think it might have a little bit more to do with him writing the episode, since i also read that his favorite from last season was the won he wrote. But yeah GRRM was stoked to get Neil Marshall as that episode will be the first time he has ever directed for a tv show. Btw the gay joke at the opening of the episode was killer. Anyone else notice that Gregor Clegane (The Moutain; also the guy who beheaded his horse in the first season) got recast? The guy who is playing him now also plays The Other from the opening of the first season, and also a couple of episodes before Jon Snow got KO'd. Some welsh dude who's like 7'2. Dudes probably all "DOUBLE PAYCHECKS BOOOOIIIII"
fat ralphy
from what i recall the jofferey bdsm shit didnt go down in the book... nice to see hbo supporting any chance to show some t&a though. dig the show, still downloading and watching. /wishihadhbooner
Newer Bigger Better
All of the kids are aged up in the show. So in the book he's only 12 or so, and they don't do the brothel thing. But he's supposed to be 17 or so in the show, and there would be no reason not to send him prostitutes.
crime stoppers
the bit where daenerys gets nailed by drogo was really good up until it mentioned that she was 13. not surprising that all of the characters are much older in the show, which i have only seen 2 episodes of. MrChupacabra
Quaithe's mask was badass. And I was bummed that the shadow stabbed Renly in the back and didn't slice his throat through his gorget.

Newer Bigger Better
She gets naked a lot in The Tudors... She also gets beheaded. Was kinda bummed about the stab in the back too. There are some other things. Bran having greendreams instead of jojen reed. Also in the book arya kills the tickler in the tavern with Sandor. And it's one of the best scenes in the book. Sad face
eviltrailer77
Looks like they aren't even gonna have the swamp kids in the show. They where such a major part of the bran story arc that it seems to me, it would be damn near impossible to tell that story with out them.
MrChupacabra
I'm assuming Jojen is just getting cut and Osha is going to more or less take on the role of Meera Reed. Problem is, that throws things off with Rickon. Otherwise, they could introduce them (or just Meera) in season 3. I'm pretty confident it'll be a no-go on Jojen though. I'm also wondering if they're going to introduce Ramsay this season, because I really don't see how or why they would cut him from the entire storyline. To be quite honest, I've been enjoying the show, but it's going to start being so drastically different than the books and there is no way around that. Yeah, some of the main events can stay the same, but they're going to have to change all sorts of shit due to the characters, scenes, and plotlines that they won't have time to introduce. edit: and for good measures... so badass. Newer Bigger Better
Osha is definitely gonna be the one to take bran north. There is a couple of things they could do with rickon. The Maester could take him to skagos. They could introduce a character from the iron islands who doesn't agree with what theon is about to do... I'm bummed cause the reed kids tell bran the story of the knight of the laughing tree. Which backbones the r+l=j theory. And tells a lot about lyanna. Sigh
Newer Bigger Better
Also I like what they did with the mask. I always assumed it was one piece... But the ninja several piece mask is the way to go

eviltrailer77
on the show as it stands now, or in the books as they stand now?
Swindle
both would be interesting.
Newer Bigger Better
Stannis has the only legit claim. The targs lost their claim when they got usurped. Beyond stannis his daughter shireen. Beyond that I could see making a push to legitimize one of his bastard sons. Most likely edric, as he's the only acknowledged bastard, because he has a noble mother (a florent). grd
Y'know that girl, who's having her fathers baby, the fat 'wall' kid keeps banging on about; is she going to play a bigger part in the storyline later?

fat ralphy
all of the differences between the show and the book are disappointing, the books are so much better. Finishing book 5 now.....
grd
Thanks metronome. (edit: must spread reps) I have made a start on book one but I'm reading four other books at the moment so I've not really got into it. The differences between books and shows/films based on books rarely isn't a disappointment ;which is why I've kinda been putting off reading the series. Newer Bigger Better
Awwwww another one... :) all of the differences between the show and the book are disappointing, the books are so much better. Finishing book 5 now..... Don't forget the Dunk and Egg novellas. They are tiny reads and set about 100 years before these books, but they give a LOT of info and shit. Plus they are awesome.
