Tails0nE Posted August 20 Share Posted August 20 Super fucking annoyed behind the bar.. my two coworkers are irritating the shit out of me.. one of them, the younger girl, won't stop fucking singing or stepping out from behind the bar or gets caught in too long of conversations with people, the other girl is just an absolute retard.. idk how "I've been bartending for 15 years" makes sense when she equally said she's never had to shake a margarita... 😒🙄🤦🏽♂️ Soooooo, I've been making cocktails for R&D.. mainly starting with ones I've seen or heard of and then figuring out what I can do to make it better or a bit different.. this one I made is called the GoldenRye.. 2oz rye, .5oz honey syrup, .5oz ginger syrup, .75oz lemon juice, .75oz mantanilla sherry.. didn't have ginger syrup or mantanilla sherry so I used ginger shrub and the Pedro ximenes sherry we have back here.. meh.. it's ok.. redid it without the ginger shrub and tastes alot better.. Tails0nE Posted August 26 Share Posted August 26 Doing some more R&D on cocktails at work.. other coworkers submitted their ideas and were getting a new specialty cocktail list but idk how I feel about some of them.. everything is too sweet or too many touches for a rush, so, me being stoned af over the weekend and running my ideas through chatgpt I have a couple ideas for a cocktail using Malört.. the infamous spirit of Chicago.. The one on the left is a variation of a Nordic Negroni.. so instead of using campari I guess they use some spirit they have in Norway that I can't pronounce or spell in replacement of campari.. so, swapped out that for malort.. equal parts Malort, gin, sweet vermouth and 2 dashes of orange bitters.. somehow the gin brings out the malort taste alot.. if you're inclined on bitter drinks, this one is it for ya.. The second one I a little different.. since malört is such a distinctive bitter taste you gotta figure out what to cut it with.. so at first it was equal parts malort, aperol, grapefruit juice and half ounce of honey syrup, considering fall is right around the corner.. meeehhh.. the bitterness of everything followed with the taste of honey was weird.. a buddy suggested using this grapefruit cordial we have instead of juice and honey syrup to still have the grapefruit quality but still sweeten it up at the same time.. waaaaaaay better tbh.. added a splash of prosecco on top to make it a "spritzy" type along with an orange coin expressed and discarded.. alot better imo..
