!@#$%
blood meridian is shaking, no doubt, it took me like 4 tries over a year to finish it. but that was just terrifying, where sunset limited is basically sound reasoning to kill yourself. though a lot of mccarthy's work is that misanthropic, *holy shit what did i just read* experience i would highly recommend either 'the orchard keeper' or 'suttree.' both great tales that are less focused on the atrocity of man. thanks for the recommendations, i'll have to be on the lookout for em. morton
Does anyone have a recommendation for a book about the prison industrial complex in the United States? I have some suspicions about the prison system in that it is moving more and more toward a for profit model and much like the military is going to be controlled by corporations rather than the state itself. What I am looking for is a book that explores these issues in a readable way. Will gladly exchange 35 Internets for recommendation.

mackfatsoe
only thing that comes to mind is Discipline and Punish and Foucault, but that's a more general philosophical kinna thing, sorry how many Internets is that worth to you?
Weapon X
only thing that comes to mind is Discipline and Punish and Foucault, but that's a more general philosophical kinna thing, sorry how many Internets is that worth to you? I flipped through that at a book store and was thoroughly disgusted by some of that shit.
