Fist 666
it kills me when pretty bikes have a poorly tensioned chain. have any of you ever ridden an EXPRESSO bike at a gym? i rode one for the first time last night, it was kind of entertaining. and i kind of hated it. http://www.expresso.com/experience/index.html
XJONATHONX
is it like a first person video game and you ride an exercise bike?

Soup
I come in here to look at waffles. THat's my friend's serotta. When he bought it it came with risers and mtb shifters. Money's tight so instead of buying new road shifters he's just riding it around like that for a little bit. American Classic finally gave me a call and said they won't be able to rebuild my front 420 because it's too old. They offered 20% off a new wheel set tho. road victory clincher for $375 hurricane $720 spriny $800 aero 3 $880 compared to online prices that seems alright. Days like this i wish i was sponsored. I didn't want to spend $900 for a new set of wheels that go out of true all the time. Somebody help. Make my wheel purchasing simple. Preferably something deep dished. I like the way they handle. Also that green CAAD 9 is on sale around here. THe original components and hollow tech cranks have been gutted out for some new Sram force and cheap wheels. Guy's asking $1600. Size 54. rubbish heap two
$1600? fuck that. i got my caad9 for $1150 and that was with campy. they don't come spec'd with campy as you probably know. $$$$$$ to build it that way. tell him to get his head out of his ass and sell it to you for 12 bills, no fuss. XJONATHONX
I cant edit that last post so ill just double em up. What do you guys do for riding in the rain? Its supposed to rain all this week and i didnt ride much last week so i gotta get out. Just tough it out and clean the bike afterwards? Just wear cycling shorts and a jersey? I tried riding with my light windbreaker/rain jacket and it didnt breathe really well so i think that may be out of the question
rubbish heap two
fenders, layering, being an oregon native. emphasis on the first, though. full fenders can take the edge off anything save the worst downpour.
Soup
It doesn't rain here that much, and when it does it stays above 50, so as long as its not windy I'll ride in shorts in a teeshirt. If it's wet but not raining these are good. If its raining I don't see the point of fenders. And if it's windy or below 50, I'll pack a lightweight windbreaker. In other news I ended up buying a new AC-420 for $224. Yay
injury
<<<newb....now that that's out of the way. I recently bought an old supercycle 12spd which was recently overhauled by a local older bike fixing kinda dude. All was well until today, which was my second day of biking 20km to work(it took me about 45 mins, is that a decent pace?) on the way home my rear wheel began shaking from side to side but the nuts were tight. I think it may just be a loose axle, I was hoping for this great group of cyclists input n thoughts on a remedy to said issue. Hoping for some good feedback and also some funny stuff, it's the oontz after all. Check your spokes too, if you have some. Broken spokes knock you out of alignment real fast. Learned that the hard way this summer riding on 5 broken spokes killing my tires.
JDI_
Full fenders, mud/courtesy/water bottle flap and a waterproof jacket. Since it's summer waterproof gloves (well, there's really no such thing in the cycling community) aren't necessary. I know a lot of folks outside of of the Northwest frown upon fenders... but when you spend nine months out the year riding in the rain, you eventually give in. If it's something you don't have to worry about very often then I wouldn't even stress on fenders, at all. Just ride through. Registered for my first CX race this season. It's going to be a tough, too. Hilly, dry & dusty and I'm completely out of shape. Awesome...

Decyferon
DAMN he was flying down that mountain, that look gnarly as hell, so slippery and he just flew, then again being from the UK I am sure he is more than used to those conditions. Not sure if Master A's is less competitive than regular A's. I feel like Monday PIR is way harder than Tuesday...
XJONATHONX
Danny Hart downhill run so fast. I just came in here to post that. Got a ride in tonight. Rained cats and dogs all day i was at work for 11 hours. Got off and it stopped, awesome. Decided to go out in cycling shorts a tshirt, and my cycling shoes with no socks. Was just gonna do my usual 20 mile loop but i decided to farther tonight and ended up doing 30. Got lost, it got dark, i bonked at 25 miles, and i couldnt feel my toes from about mile 4. I'd call it a good ride. 14.4mph average with a max speed of 34 through rolling hills.
