Father's finger bitten off in school Nativity play fight

British police have arrested a man after a parent's finger was bitten off during a fight before a school's Nativity play.

Northumbria Police say a 39-year-old man was detained after a brawl broke out when parents at Harton Primary School in the northeastern

English town of South Shields, outside the city of Newcastle, gathered for a traditional festive performance by their children.

A 32-year-old father was taken to a hospital for medical treatment after his finger was bitten off. Police did not disclose if medics were able to save the digit.

Police said the 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault. Teachers said children did not witness the attack because they were preparing to begin their performance.

I'm sure nestled underneath the victim's father's public outrage is a tear-jerking sense of pride. That kid really sat the bar high at a young age. He needs to pace himself so he still has somewhere to go. It's like Kobe going pro right out of high school.
