I attend the school of the late great Sane. Starting school this year, I received my textbooks. I opened my math textbook and saw a Sane tag. At first I thought it was just some kid copying Sane's tag, but it was everywhere in the book. The name "David Smith" was logged in the list of names exactly in Sane's handstyle. I knew now that I was holding an artifact of graffiti history. Sane's very own math textbook, used in my school from years 1985 and 1986. I have scanned some of the most interesting pages and uploaded them to my flickr account in order to archive some remaining bits of Sane's legacy. http://flickr.com/photos/mikeazorin/sets/72157594274009002/det…

More info on Eisner: http://www.newsarama.com/pages/Eisner.htm Eisner is very well known for a lifetime of work including Spirit and numerous other comicbooks, his illustrations and storylines where always topnotch and he captured the essence of living in a metropol like few others ever had done. not really graffiti related, but dude was an amazing man who's work is familair to most folks here (even if they're not aware of it). probably most well known for directing 'Shaft', he was also one of the most famous american photographers, as well as one of the first professional black photographers ever. The surfing community lost a great young surfer. Malik died surfing on a picture perfect day at pipeline. Rest in power - the good go young. Malik recently took on the deadly waves at Teahupoo and won the 2003 billabong xxl tube of the year award. Im sure some of you could care less, but this kid was mad talented. Plus he was goofyfoot, which makes him dope by default.

We used to be good friends. Shoplifted together, painted together, laughed, and ate at Taco Bell alot. Years went by and we stopped being friends. We even almost fought eachother a few times, and painted over eachother's shit all the time. But forget rivalry. Links (a.k.a. Oluchi McDonald) was generally a nice kid who was quiet and although he was usually drunk, he was a pacifist. I regret ending on bad terms with him, but forget the past and look on to the future. I send my deepest condolences to all his friends and family. Someone should post some pictures because I have none. But, nonetheless...REST IN PEACE. -your FRIEND.:(

I am sure that everyone has heard about the passing of MET J4F UAC. 2005 has been a horrible year for chicago graffiti. The walls wont be the same without you. Rest In Paradise, you wont be forgotten. UAC is trying to get something together to honor our fallen soldier. He was a good guy, and changed the blueline forever. Code UAC NARCS

I am not sure whether this has been done before but here it goes anyway. Its with great sadness that we inform the graffiti world Shine (aka T-Roc) from Manchester has passed away, he took his own life on the 13th April for reasons only he knows, he hung out in Manchester at the writers bench and also at Jubilee market in London back in the early 80's. He was a regular at the Bridlington jam along with Mode 2, Tkid and many others. Shine instantly became the undisputed king of Manchester from day 1 His crew " The Style Stars " were producing amazing pieces across the city. Over the years Shine strayed slightly from the scene but always popped up from…

RIP Hunter S. Thompson. Author Hunter S. Thompson Kills Himself DENVER - Hunter S. Thompson, the acerbic counterculture writer who popularized a new form of fictional journalism in books like "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," fatally shot himself Sunday night at his Aspen-area home, his son said. He was 67. "Hunter prized his privacy and we ask that his friends and admirers respect that privacy as well as that of his family," Juan Thompson said in a statement released to the Aspen Daily News. Pitkin County Sheriff officials confirmed to The Associated Press that Thompson had died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Thompson's wife,…

I personally never met Alonso - Im not sure yet as to what his tag actually was, though I have reason to believe he went by Aire. From what his friends have told me he was up all around the LA area, and I can verify this, because he pushed his crew name more then his own. ICS streaks, stickers and can tags/bombs, scribes on multiple different buslines (omni trans, foothill transit, MTA ect.) He would have been survived by his mother if she too hadnt also passed on about month before he did. I get the impression they were close, and its my own opinion that when somebody loses someone they love they also lose a sense of their own direction. Up to the month leading to his…
