I may not be the best person to make a thread about this guy, as I never knew Preck all that well. To me, he was that guy you only met 5 or 6 times in the year but who was always cool, dropped a nice piece and a good impression. I'm pretty sure his close friends do not come here, and pictures of his stuff online are quite rare, so since i came across some today i decided this was a good occasion to make a small tribute. pics from maquis-art Rest In Peace.

Today was a fuking weird ass day, and what added to that was the news that I recieved a couple of hours ago. Big King Kizer past away at the hands of a CTA train. What happened, only He knows. However, what I do know is that this muthafucka was one down as writer. He destroyed shit from north, south, east, and west. He put in his work, and I'll tell you, he left this world, but not really because his tags, scribes, fills and graff will be left for us to remember for years to come. I'm in disbelief... that such a hardcore bomber could have such a fate... En Pas Descansa... Kizer...

As many may already know, the world famous Belmont Tunnel or Belmont Yard in Los Angeles will be destroyed so a new apartment complex can be built. Belmont was the oldest and most recognized yard in Los Angeles. Writers from all over L.A. and the world, including New York legends like SEEN, BLADE, and DUSTER have hit up here. Many writers from around the Los Angeles area and the world, as well as Pacific Electric rail enthusiasts have been visiting the Tunnel for months now, to get a "last glimpse" before she closes. If you haven't visited it already, you still have time. From what I understand construction is supposed to start in another 2 to 3 months. Originally ca…

Our good friend Sam died on Friday the 13th of February. We've known Sam since the first time we've moved in together. when i speak of "we" it means me and my hubby. we lived in the same building as sam and sam was a bike messenger for 7 years. he was a really good friend of ours especially my hubbys. we've had our fair share of memories with this guy. sam and i liked eachother....we were good friends too. he didnt like me for a lil while but thats because he didnt understand some things about me. but we still maintained a friendship. my hubby threw a surprise bday party for me on year. sam was there and throughout the whole night, sam and i talked about …

God damnit....godamnit, i never thought I would have to post in this thread..... ACI was a mentor of sorts to me in high school. He was a lot older (about 26 at the time) and he had a really original style of distorted, "artsy" looking characters. He always reassured me that one day my shit would get better but I never believed him. Years passed and I came up on my skills just like he said. I had lost touch with him over the years and i always hoped to be able to run into him, pull out my sketchbook and say "See man, you were right all along! You were right!" I found out from a mutual friend that he died on New Years. You were my friend,…

http://www.npr.org/programs/atc/features/2004/jan/kangaroo/kangaroo_140.jpg'> Jan. 23, 2004 -- TV's Captain Kangaroo -- who befriended millions of children for more than three decades -- has died. Bob Keeshan -- the man behind the captain -- was 76. The show premiered on CBS in 1955, moved to PBS many years later, and stayed on the air until 1984, winning six Emmy awards and three Peabodys. More than that, it helped change the face of children's television. Keeshan spoke directly into the camera, capturing the full attention of children watching at home. He interacted with few children on screen, using a variety of puppets and adult characters -- f…

He passed over six years ago now, almost before I followed graffiti. I haven't seen his stuff in person, but he still has a lot of stuff on artcrimes.com and other websites. As part of the graffiti "family", I don't think we should let anyone be forgotten. http://www.ameritech.net/users/gungazo/paul.html His memorial page... read the guest book, I'm sure we've all lost someone and can imagine the pain his family feels to this day...

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Johnny Cash, a towering musical figure whose rough, unsteady voice championed the downtrodden and reached across generations with songs like "Ring of Fire," "I Walk the Line" and "Folsom Prison Blues," died Friday. He was 71. Cash, known as "The Man in Black," died at 2 a.m. in Baptist Hospital of complications from diabetes that resulted in respiratory failure, said his manager, Lou Robin. The funeral service will be private, but a public memorial is being planned and the date will be announced later. In his songs, Cash crafted a persona as a dignified, resilient voice for the common man _ but there was always a dark edge. One of the mos…
