refurbished a lamp ive had for a while. its been needing some attention for a bit. its the first time ive done this and it was much easier than i expected. aside from waiting for the paint to dry, this was a very quick job.

rewired with new plug, cord, socket, paint.

    DISSY -

    UNPLUG the lamp
remove the shade, bulb, and mount that holds the shade.

once you get to this point pinch where my fingers are.

remove & be mindful of the wires

remove the sleeve of the socket
detach the wires by loosening these 2 screws

    pull wires thru bottom

as with any new disassembly, make sure to keep track of the order you remove everything.

    NEW WIRING-

you can modify and old extension cord for this part. Or use speaker wire i suppose.

feed the new wire (unstripped) thru both pieces of the plug

pinch the prongs together. they will pierce the insulation on the wiring.

    pull thru

FEED THE NEW WIRE THRU THE LAMP BEFORE THIS NEXT PART

    split about 3"

strip the insulation off about 3/4"

    twist

wrap your bare wire around the 2 screws on the socket in a CLOCKWISE motion.
this way, as you tighten the screws the wire will wrap tighter around them.
if you were to wrap them counter clockwise they would loosen themselves as you tighten the screws...

(i ended up using black wire instead of brown and painting the new socket silver to match the rest)
