GALLATIN, Tenn. – Police have identified the subjects killed after the St. Patrick's Day bank robbery in Gallatin. One of the men involved has been linked to a Santa Clause bank robbery in Nashville.

Gallatin police identified the suspect who entered the Gallatin bank in a leprechaun outfit was 20-year-old David Cotton from Brentwood.

Officials said the suspect in the getaway vehicle was 20-year-old Jonathan Ryan Skinner. He was a student at Western Kentucky University.

On Thursday, the Gallatin Police Department released police dash cam video that showed one of the suspects firing three rounds at a Gallatin police officer's squad car in the middle of a neighborhood.

Police said Cotton later shot and killed himself in a Sumner County field after he was surrounded by police after a chase.

Investigators claim Skinner then picked up the gun used by his friend and pointed it in the direction of officers.

"He made two moves with the weapon. The second one pointed in the direction of the officers, and the officer had no choice but to defend himself and the other officers," said Sumner County Sheriff Bob Barker.

Barker said both his deputies and Gallatin police officers handled the incident as they were trained to, and they were justified in shooting Skinner.

"The FBI is continuing to look at their unsolved cases, not only in Middle Tennessee, but broader to see if these individuals are involved in other acts as well," said Barker.

No one else was injured in the incident.
