tuneup utilities helped somewhat but my computer was already streamlined.

all tuneup did was make my wireless connection faster and cleaned up some registry shit.

are you using the new catalyst drivers for your 9800? 5.11 makes the opengl fly.

oh, and msconfig helps, but i never use it. you can do the selective startup...yeah. turn off everything not microsoft.

Hey guys. What is a .flac file? My roommate just downloaded an album from torrent spy and all the albums files are in tthis format. What program do i need to convert these to either wma or mp3, I dont care which one. Thanks

FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec. Grossly oversimplified, FLAC is similar to MP3, but lossless, meaning that audio is compressed in FLAC without any loss in quality. This is similar to how Zip works, except with FLAC you will get much better compression because it is designed specifically for audio, and you can play back compressed FLAC files in your favorite player (or your car or home stereo, just like you would an MP3 file. if you want to convert the flac to mp3 go here

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

well, im not worried so much about sound problems (worst comes to worst, i go unbalanced)... just didn't wanna fry the pci card

naw i wouldn't worry about that, just make sure you aint overloading the signal goin in, keep your mixer levels below the red.
