mr.yuck
I started to tear out the cabinets from the kitchen. These hoes are 100% hand built. I don't think they are original but they are the most solid build fucking things I've ever tried to take apart. Pulled out this banquette deal. Took like 3 hours and there was this dope plasterwork behind it that was done to look like tile. Now we got that open feeling from the kitchen to the dining room. I also started demo in the dining room. The ceiling was a little loose. After I made a few first holes to be able to yank on it, I gave it one little pull and about 3/4 of the ceiling collapsed right in front of me. clean up time. 3
mr.yuck
Oh yeah this porch jank is also gutted. Turns out this thing was originally a sleeping porch. Back in the day in the south they had screened in porches with a ceiling fan that you could go outside and sleep at night if your house was too hot. 5

It was originally awesome. If it was still that stain, I probably would have left the majority of the room intact.
mr.yuck
Update: downstairs is el gutto. Of course as soon as I got this MoFo half way tore up, my dryer decided it was gonna shit out on me. Why not? So I ended up rewashing all of my clothes in vinegar cuz I didn't get to them soon enough and the whole joint smelled like mildew down here. Humped them bitches up to the laundymat and paid like $5 to make my shit dry. Anyway, the laundry mat isn't in the budget. So I ordered a repair kit for the dryer for like $39. That shit came snappy to the house in about 3 days. I don't know which one of these pieces is the culprit so I'm just gonna replace all of them. Here's the challenger: FIGHT!! I ain't no repair man but I'm not sure the heating element is supposed to look all burned up like that. So anyway, about 30 minutes later this hoe is back together and blowing hot ass air again. fat ralphy
@mr.yuck what are the permitting laws in your area - clearly you are doing a ton of shit. Knowing you like to ride dirty I am assuming this is all permit free. CA laws are a bitch. 1

I don't remember what it was they did or said that rubbed me the wrong way anymore, but I still haven't let them in the house to do the final inspection. They called me a few times the beginning of last year. I told them I wasn't done yet and I'd be in touch. I'm not going through their bullshit again for downstairs. Gonna just do it and tell them this is how the house was when I bought it. I do all of my work up to code anyway, so it really shouldnt be a problem. 1

The power company doesn't maintain any of their easements. The first time the transformer on a pole behind my neighbor's house had mad ivy and shit growing on it. It shorted out and exploded. The second time some one down stream crashed into one of those ground transformers and fucked up half of the down town area. This time some tree shit fell on some lines and blew some shit up on the easement caddy corner to me.

mr.yuck
100% fuck! I was peeling up the layers of my kitchen floor and found asbestos tiles. Lucky for me, I know a guy. He's gonna come in this Tuesday and remove the floor for me. This is the first speed bump into my budget that I didn't account for.

ndv
A/C related question. GFs ac is not blowing cold as water dripps quite a bit. I don't want to be taken advantage of when the repair guy shows up. So what should I expect for repairs?
mr.yuck
No idea. Your best bet is to befriend some one in that field. HVAC MFers are the scumbag mechanics of the industry. Will change a $3 capacitor for $800 all day. Will "refill" your coolant when it's some other dumb easy shit.

I mean, she does have insurance on the unit, but I don't want her to be taken for a ride eighther way.
