Maybe they are just too loyal? My parents shiba was really friendly and loved people and large dogs. she fucking hates small dogs though, which is great. She's like 14 or 15 years old now though, completely deaf, and senile as fuck, so shes always really jumpy, anxious, and snappy. They can't even let her out when people are around because they're afraid she might get startled and bite the shit out of someone. For a not very large dog, they have absolutely vicious teeth. They did a good job training her though and constantly were making sure she knew she wasnt the boss. they're very dominant dogs who always want to be the alpha, so if you don't train them well, they won't listen for shit.
