Well ain't that some shit.

Bummer….what’s the deal with that? Just happened? No warning? Back to using the ol Victoria Secret catalog.

I used to live in a country where all porn was “blocked” online. But the way they blocked it was amateur and if you manually configured your DNS server to OpenDNS or something similar it was all viewable again.

PH is blocked and Xhamster along with some others want to take your picture before you enter. VA

I personally think that we are entering a re-birth of puritanism, censorship and attacks on free speech.

I watched Holliday Inn last night, family fare produced under the Motion Picture Production Code in 1942. Amazon, which is certainly one of the most culturally relevant providers of content had the movie as recommended for ages 13+ due to smoking, alcohol and blackface.

Really, 13 and up for an Irving Berlin picture, it boggles the mind. I appreciate the difference between law and the recommendations of  industry but assume that Amazon has their finger on the pulse of our nation's sensibilities.

There are other trends also that I have a harder time wrapping my head around or articulating. Here we have new legal forms of State level censorship  along with self censorship of the entertainment industry. There is also a new form of political correctness shaping up that when combined a ratings based approach to news media is turning maters of domestic and foreign political affairs into something   much closer to entertainment than news. etc etc etc I am no smart guy but I think there are many trends to be concerned about.

Apparently it went into effect last week. This text (accompanied by a video of some pron star reading it) is what I see.

Dear user,

As you may know, your elected officials in North Carolina are requiring us to verify your age before allowing you access to our website. While safety and compliance are at the forefront of our mission, giving your ID card every time you want to visit an adult platform is not the most effective solution for protecting our users, and in fact, will put children and your privacy at risk.

In addition, mandating age verification without proper enforcement gives platforms the opportunity to choose whether or not to comply. As we’ve seen in other states, this just drives traffic to sites with far fewer safety measures in place. Very few sites are able to compare to the robust Trust and Safety measures we currently have in place. To protect children and user privacy, any legislation must be enforced against all platforms offering adult content.

The safety of our users is one of our biggest concerns. We believe that the best and most effective solution for protecting children and adults alike is to identify users by their device and allow access to age-restricted materials and websites based on that identification. Until a real solution is offered, we have made the difficult decision to completely disable access to our website in North Carolina.

Please contact your representatives before it is too late and demand device-based verification solutions that make the internet safer while also respecting your privacy."

I've never had a reddit account, and never gone there for porn.

I'm definitely concerned about government overreach in this, especially when it's the "don't tread on me" politicians that are forcing the laws like these into place.

Guess I'll be using my imagination like a sucker....

Practically speaking the obstacle in place is also nonsensical, Opera comes with a VPN built in and only a couple of sites are reacting to the ban at all. Some people point to that as a way to downplay the ban but I think they are missing the point.

Really, our freedom loving republican friends have instituted a policy where a private company can request to use AI to evaluate my face remotely by camera in order to view porno.

Please contact your state representatives and demand they allow you to access porn. Tell them they are infringing on your constitutional right of the pursuit of Happiness.

Or go down to the local wack shack and buy a DVD.

@Fist 666 it just crossedy mind, have you tried using tor browser for your urls?

I believe that should work, however, if your internet service provider has blocked urls then I am not sure if tor maybe enough.

You can also try whonix, this should work.

If you really wanna go dark, you can run tor through whonix, it will give you a complete anonymous layer surfing the web.
