I did it once in Japan on a total Lost in Translation night out in the outskirts of Tokyo. I randomly went into a hole in the wall whiskey jazz bar to drink some pain away down the road from my apartment. Did not even know what kind of bar it was, just saw the door at the end of a hall way in a little shopping area and went in. Ended up getting to know all the regulars that night and got hammered with them drinking straight Makers Mark. Owner closed the bar down and we moved to the karaoke spot down the road and got a private room. We all continued drinking beers and singing. I don’t remember any songs I sang, but I do remember singing a lot of them in a death metal vocal style. I absolutely went to that bar almost every night during my time there.

Hmm, never heard of private karaoke rooms, I guess I've only been exposed to public or home. I have a few people that host Karaoke parties and renting this setup....

 

 

 

Don't know much about the sing game,  but these type of machines (some) are handmade in order to bring business to what ever store.  Some I've seen that were really creative and more appealing than this setup...

 

 

 

 

And let me tell you, those handmade ones thumped 👍  Guaranteed to have a good time. Not to mentioned how some had a setting to change your voice,  fucken laughs 🤣

Never done private karaoke but if I get enough drinks in me I'll go belt out an amazing rendition of Piano Man. Really brings the mood up in the place.

I don't drink enough anymore to even consider doing karaoke, public or private.  

 

My anxiety/inhibitions run way too high for it. I like watching other people eat shit at it, though. 

 

I met my ex wife at a karaoke bar on a night where I was the DD.

Same. Shibuya(I think that’s how you spell it) super good fun. Very drunk. There’s a place in my area that has this kinda small shared situation with a small bar. You just get on a open call list and sing along with the whole rest of the bar. It was actually pretty fun from the little bit I remember.
