How often you catching something you don't want? They are out there year round and their is a season and limits in certain water and no season and a different limit in other water. Federal and state water deal. We mainly jig for them off the bottom and use squid on the jig to make life easier. We caught all snapper today, but there was a 6+ foot hammerhead out by the boat for awhile that followed one of my fish. Occasionally if you don’t get the fish up fast enough, a shark or barracuda will eat it and you may hook up or reel up a fish head. Certain spots have more sharks and barracuda than others. Those would be the main ones you don’t really want to catch. Fun, but tiring to catch a bunch of sharks “accidentally” and lose some nice fish and expensive tackle. Camera on phone got wet from rain and stopped working. Included picture of a couple of extras that we happened to catch. 2 lane snapper and 1 grey/mangrove snapper. I looked at the guide for what's in the waters I'll be at and there's some weird looking shit in the deep mixed in with the edible looking stuff.
