Also if you're trying to keep that Desert Tortoise just be aware that they dig under fences, decks, and slabs of concrete with ease. I mean slowly obviously, but they'll disappear on yas sometimes. But whatever man. He's a sidewalk tortoise anyways. Could have also been somebody elses pet since it sounds like you found him up in the residentials. Maybe he escaped but didn't get that far.
