If you listen to that new Sway and Tech "Back to Basics", there is a skit where they sell this thing that does the "oooohh" after every thing you say to make it sound good. I hate most live rap music. Fuck outta here with your fat, sweaty hypeman. I don't even like live any type of music. I'd rather be smoking weed at my rest with the 1000 watt system bangin', in stead of some steamy place where white bitches are stepping on my shoes and waving their arm around while they go "oooohhhh" after a pop-culture reference in the lyrics that they didn't even get. ANd then they go and talk about "the show" after. Fuck you and your "show". "Show". "Show." Pfttt.

RoboThruster
Thought I'd add the following hip hop records I actually do like. Arrested Development- 3 years, 5 months and 2 days in the life of. .. Atmosphere- Godloves Ugly Krs one- Edutainment. No doubt someone or another will have someshit to say about the last two. But whatever, they are both good albums. Godlovesugly- Vocal takes are the way I like them, well layered, strong and with a sense of rythm. Rymes come with a different approach. Less concerned with flow and more concerned with the way the actual words sound together and the effects of them. Beats are well made and well layered with sounds. (All of that shit is unlike some other rappers I've heard :cough: doom :cough:) Krs one- Rythmically awesome (dude swings on snares like an orangotan). Delivery is always powerfull as is the general sound of his voice. Beats have a raw funk which is fucking great. Politically orientated lyrics with a simple funky flow, its just right for what he's trying to do. On a side note Another good example of a rapper who tries to educate people and says his shit simply so you'll understand but still makes it sound good is a uk dude called Braintax. Get his birofunk lp. I think alot of people don't take those albums seriously because they're too cool for it. Like they think of Atmosphere and think of emo chicks and want to be hip hop hipsters and they think of Krs one and think of snotty nosed backpack kids who really really want to be hip hop. But fuck that shit. Those albums are well made and lyrically worthwhile. I couldn't care less who else is listening to that shit and whether they understand why its worth listen to. End Rant. PREPPY GANGSTA
Edutainment, which is actually a BDP album and not a KRS solo, is quality. I wouldn't say it's as dope as the one right before it: "Ghetto Music: The Blueprint of Hip-Hop," but with "Love's Gonna Getcha," "Ya Know the Rules," and "Breath Control II," it's definitely close. To be honest, I still think that shits wack. What you call "not overproduced" I call sloppy. I'll admit I have a special preference at the moment for mcee's who layer their vocal takes to get a rich sound, but at the end of the day I just like good vocal takes however dude got them. Krs ones vocals are a good example. On lots of his old tracks they are every bit "not over produced" as that MF shit but they still sound good because the prescence is there and the diction is there. I don't think Mf doom has any of that. As for that 3/4 time over a 4/4 beat style or whatever its meant to be. I'd like it , or atleast appreciate it if I could see the guy had worked on the style some, and crafted it. But it doesnt sound well crafted at all.. Its just some dude rapping off beat and sounding wack while doing it. A good example of a group who rap off beat but still are worthwhile are this Australian group called celcius, get there self titled debut and you'll see the difference. Lastly, I'm sorry, but personally I thought all that shit in that ryme was the type of content I've heard over and over. Possibly with the exception of that line about paying v for ryming on the beat but not for what he knows. I thought that was clever. But even thats the same thing I've been hearing all these decade. We all know about the problems of making marketable music and industry injustice and all that ish. Thats just me though, keep listening to it if you feel it. I still don't understand why you do, but thats cool. Personally I think I'm going to smash the buzzer on my alarm and give the whole Mf revolution a fucking miss. On a side note, whoever recommended purple rain by prince- thumbs up. on.
