i think it's a matter of Westernizing the name... everyone i know calls him Kar Wai Wong, surname first.

Well, to each his own man. But, I sure don't refer to anyone last name first. I'm not gonna refer to someone from a foreign country that way just to fit in with their country's customs.

Not to seem argumentative, really. Just sayin'...

About that Wong Kar Wai name problem..

in Asia people are called by there family name first..

and Wong is his family name.

Well, sure, but the cutoms in Asia are irrelevant. If we were all in Asia I'd understand, but I don't just adapt to foreign customs if there is a foreigner in the room.

Even though I think you were arguing my point.

Before I forget:

Fucking hysterical short documentary about the infestation of cane toads in Australia. I was really impressed just how funny they made this be without even trying too hard.

that was actually my point, except that Wong is the surname.

i was confused because i've seen both Kar-Wai Wong and Wong Kar-Wai used in the press.

i wouldn't say that the violence in Man Bites Dog was mindless.

has anyone seen the machinist with christian bale?

reputable sources tell me it's good.

I thought it was pretty fucking amazing. Nothing new or unique, but very finely written/acted/shot.

One of my favorite Yakuza series. Very well made, great story, great actors, all around just great flicks. (fukasaku also directed Battle Royale, and Graveyard of Honor, the original one)

Im a big Ozu fan too. Both versions of Floating Weeds were great, along with Tokyo Story.

I'm gonna second that. I bought it the day it came out on DVD because I missed it in the theaters and I KNEW I'd love it. Session 9 was good, too.
