iloveboxcars
wanna make firefox faster? http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1299854/posts have fun. ++++ qouted text ++++ Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up: 1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. 2. Alter the entries as follows: Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. 3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves. If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now! ++++ quoted text ++++ make sure you exit out of firefox after you make the changes and then restart it. the changes wont come into effect until you do that. Guest
I wonder what webmasters think about this? Does it have a negative side for the people being pinged excessively? I wonder what Raven would say?

Herbivore
i don't understand the fascination with firefox. everyone raves about its security (not allowing Active X scripts to run) but you can disable them in IE for the same result. when using firefox, many web pages wouldn't load correctly, and i'd be forced to reload the page in IE. the cosmetic advantages like tabbed windows and enhanced text finding were nice, but not worth it in my opinion. i'm sure there are other aspects of it that enhance it, but IE is nice and simple, more compatible, and can be as secure as any other browser if the right settings are made. Guest imported_Tesseract
firefox is better for a million reasons other than security..tabbed browsing is just wonderfull and supporting anyone else besides microsoft should also be a good reason
Herbivore
but it's not like you're paying extra for IE, and thus supporting microsoft.

Quoted post I dont mean strictly financial support. Microsoft is know for halfassing its software simply because people are gonna buy it anyway. Its a good lesson for them to be totally slaughtered by a company that makes better software and gives it for free. Another thing with firefox is the extentions, they work like a charm and the collection is so big you can get your browser to make you a sandwich while copying image urls adding the img brackets on with just one click. Seriously, go mozilla go!

villain
There's so many viruses written for IE it's ridiculous. After I heard about address bar spoofs for IE I swore off it foreever. If there is something that won't load in firefox and I absolutely must see it, I use maxthon.
