the recommended amount of carbs per day is 300 g's if i'm not mistaken...

the atkins diet is anywhere from 20-40 in the early stages....and in the later stages, like after a year of doing it, i think you can move up to 60.

just make sure you're taking a multi vitamin (which you should be taking anyway) to replace the nutrients from carbohydrates, or your whole body will go downhill...anything from your immune system weakening to getting pimples will occur if you starve your body of carbs and dont take a multi. low carb diets are fine, just remember the vitamin.

like i said earlier, if you don't wanna do atkins, and you're trying to lose weight, have your carbs before 3 pm, and don't eat anything really within 2-3 hours of going to bed.

another little thing you can do, is break up your portions more.

you can eat the same amount of calories a day, but instead of the food you would eat in three meals, break it up into six meals.

Yeah I know you gotta watch the carbs... when I say vegetarian I mean shit like salads... I eat at least one salad a day. It's mostly water and vitamins.... so it's all good.

Alcohol actually will kill your capillaries cause it's a bitch ass motherfucker.... so this definately won't help your muscles. Plus you will piss your nutrients out and retain calories and get fat.

DEE38: I realize you gotta watch your carbs and all I mean that's good, but what's with this atkins diet shit where you ONLY watch your carbs? What about calories? Unless you plan on burning those calories you are going to gain weight. All that high protein stuff has high calories... great for gaining weight, not losing it.

So in summary, eat lots of salad.

I say fuck diets... exercise is the way to go.

Funny. I actually was buying groceries 2 days ago and the checker started talking about this video, but never really mentioned many details. Given the title and how much he kept saying it would "help me" I seriously thought he was talking about some cheesy religion thing... Anyway... checking their website now. (For others who are interested it's http://www.bodyforlife.com )

Dee, I hate to be redundant, but diet and exercise really are the only way to go. If you don't have time to exercise, then diet. Last year in Jan/Feb, I dropped 25lbs by watching what I ate. Try using the calorie calculator here (cheesy site, I know) and see what the daily intake would be to maintain your current weight. Then, try and stay under that amount each day. The average for females is around 2000 calories each day. It takes 3500 calories to burn one pound. If you stick with a diet full of veggies and protein (carbs if you want them, but they tend to be high calorie), you can lose weight without gaining it back. The biggest problem I had was cutting drinking out of my diet, but I resolved to drink no more than once a week and it wasn't much of a problem. It is easy to have a meal plan where you aren't hungry and stay at or around 1000 calories ea. day (the easiest way to keep the calories down is to minimize breads and pastas...) If you do this every day, that's about 1000 calories cut out daily and about 7000 per week, which is about 2 lbs weekly. Not bad for diet only. If you do exercise, though, you burn more than just 2000 calories a day. And on the exercise video tip, I heard that "The Firm" videos are really good. Usually you should have a minimum of 20-30 minutes of cardio each day, walking or something else...

The only way I've seen people lose a lot of weight is through exercise. Jog about 4 times a week, for 20 minutes a day. Sounds tough, but 20 minutes is really nothing compared to the time we waste on the computer. You will see results. Guaranteed!

dee..

you already i know i had a baby.. i would have to say i was lucky cause i didnt have much weight to lose..however my body was not toned at all anymore...and there were still some pounds in some tummy area i wanted to get rid of..i work out every other day..and

1. i do ALOT of crunches.. (50) plus 25 side crunches

2. (dont know what its called) but i lay on my back..and stick my hands under my ass.. and then i lift my legs off the ground and tighten my stomach..and do parrall kicks without letting my legs touch the ground..i'll usually do a set of 25.. but when you first do it (6wks after i had the baby) it kicked my ass...but i've seen really good results

3. i lay on my side, lift my whole side of the ground.. which makes my weight end up resting on my arms and elbow..and you also have to tighten your abs as you do it.. its like a side pushup..i do a set of 10 on each side

4.um...another thing for my calves and glutes.. are lunges..where you take a big step ..so your leg infront of you the knee is bent and the leg behind you..the knee is almost touching the ground.. then switch legs..and i usually do those with 10 pd weights and each time i go down i lift up the weights over my head

5. and i also lift weights..and do pushups..and work out for my calves

for eatting..i just moderate myself..i stop eatting when i'm not hungry, and if i want to snack..i'll just eat a lil bit.. and its helped me lose all of my weight (when i used to eat whatever whenever causei had a fast metabolism)..it prevents me from just pigging out and id ont eat unless i'm hungry and drink lots of water and no soda..hardly ever

also.. i'll just turn on music and dance around in my room (yeah i'm a dork) but my son will usually just lay in the bed..or i'll pick him up and dance with him..and dancing is a good cardio work out.. and jump roping is really good too

hope some of that helped..

find somewhere with a lot of stairs and start hiking them. Up up and up more. then fill a backpack with random heavy shit (not my poop but stuff around the house, books and whut not). up up and up some more. Drink lots of water and leave the meal table a lil hungry but not starving.

eat at the right times.

early day - do you carbs if your gonna do them at all.

3 or for properly squared meals a day. Better to eat more times and less food then binge at meal times.

his aunt gave him soda for the first time, without my permission, two straws full... (which is pretty stupid and i got kinda of mad) and my son was SOOOOOOOOOOO HYPER for 45 minutes straight. its kind of fucked up cuz i was hoping not to teach him what soda was for a while.

i hate when people do shit to my son without consulting me.

dee, if he starts reaching for the soda cans when he sees them, thats when you know you have a problem

dee...awww what a cutie!!!

yeah.. i eat really healthy and its reflecting on what my parents feed me when i was younger.. i still never drink soda.. and everyone thinks i'm weird cause i'll only put 1/4 of juice and mix the rest with water..or else its too sweet for me.. so yeah i'm gonna make sure machai gets plenty of veggies and all the other food groups..my aunt used to think i was weird because for dessert instead of icecream i'd want fruit..haha

I just thought of another good tip. You know those stability balls (yoga balls, balance balls) basicly those giant rubber air filled balls they have at the gym. Get one of those. Sit on it with it supporting your lower back and do crunches on it. These are great cause they force you to really target your abs and your ore cause you have to also balance yourself which doing the exercise!

it's so true what raven mentioned before about vegetarians.

I havent really eaten any beef for about 8 years, but just recently i cut out all other types of meat and milk.

i feel like all i do now is eat junk food.

salads get old real fast when you're eating two a day, everday, and sometimes the soy products like the chik nuggets and veggie burgers get old too... that's when pasta comes in.:o

i think im gonna hafta go on a hunger strike.

Well if it gets old, get creative. There's more than one way to skin a kitten.

Ab targeting: Crunches, situps, leg lifts, butterfly kicks, rotating situps, (i think the cobra might, but it's more for your back, some people call it the superman or something), i like to put a 45lb weight on my chest and hold it while I do situps.

I just read this thread today so forgive me for being "late" on the subject of lingerie...

Dee... sweety, spend a little money on the bra. As a guy, I know it's a little weird but I get so frustrated when I see a girl who's wearing the wrong size bra. You can see through her t-shirt that the back is practically resting on her shoulders, or the cups are cutting in on the front. Listen, right now Nordstrom is having their Half Yearly sale. You can find good bras cheaper than Victoris Secret. Best of all, the women who work there are fit specialist. Get yourself fitted for the right size. That shit is important. Don't ask why I know what I know. I could go on and on too.

Diet and exercise... when I was heavier, the only way it would come off for me was exercise and lots of it. Mostly pilates and aerobics. Both of which can be done at home. I drank lots of water and walked wherever I could. Watched what I ate and only ate when I was really hungry. And made the right food choices on top of that. Lowering your carb intake will help, but not all that important.
