Posted June 26, 2010 Share Posted June 26, 2010 Jim Henson Company confirms Dark Crystal 2 Simon Brew It’s official: a sequel to The Dark Crystal is coming, and it’s the directors of Daybreakers who will be calling the shots… Published on May 5, 2010 Here's a project that we can't help but have mixed feelings about. On the one hand, the thought of a second Dark Crystal movie is an interesting one, and if it captures the spirit of the first one, then we'd far rather watch it then the majority of the films that masquerade as modern-day family entertainment. But then there's the obvious fear. The Dark Crystal looks and feels like a complete one-off, and now, around two decades later, it doesn't necessarily feel like a sequel that needed to happen. However, excitement is winning out here at the moment, and The Jim Henson Company has now released a press release confirming the movie and its director. The film will be called The Power Of The Dark Crystal, and inevitably enough, it's going to be shot for 3D screening. It's going to be made in Australia, with Brian and Lisa Henson among the executive producers. The script has been written by Craig Pearce, and the directors chosen to bring the film to life are Peter and Michael Spierig. They most recently wrote and directed Daybreakers, and had this to say about Power Of The Dark Crystal: "We feel a tremendous amount of responsibility in telling this story with the same meticulous care that Jim Henson and Frank Oz gave the 1982 original. This is a chance to take the world of puppetry into the modern age by using modern techniques (like motion capture CGI) and the tried and true methods (like puppetry and animatronics) to create a one hundred percent real world that is unique to The Dark Crystal." The press statement also details the plot of the film, and it runs thus: "Set hundreds of years after the events of the first movie when the world has once again fallen into darkness, Power of the Dark Crystal follows the adventures of a mysterious girl made of fire who, together with a Gelfling outcast, steals a shard of the legendary Crystal in an attempt to reignite the dying sun that exists at the center of the planet." This, combined with the confirmation of a new Muppet movie for release in 2011, just leaves us wondering if and when Labyrinth 2 is going to come along to try and complete the set... I downloaded some Cut killer and supreme ntm music and discovered fonky family. I have to tell you, you guys in france know how to make fresh beats. This instrumental composition is beautiful.
