delonemonkey
i thought this thread was going to be making fun of fix gear fags, not about you being one. Shame on you. I dont care what homo ass in the air bike you get.
acer910
what the hell. why cant we have something like that in the US.
morton
So why do people get fixed gears anyway? I asked a messenger a bar one time and he tried to say that it was a weight saving thing which does not make sense to me. Honestly what is the appeal? thismachinekills
yeah, a bike that cheap is going to be shit. in the cycling world you definitely get what you pay for. pay the extra $150 and get a kilo TT http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/mercier/kilott.htm

Spruce Lee
im guessing that since theres no gears or break cables bike maintenence is easier and there is less to go wrong if you crash/drop the bike/etc

morton
Bike maintenance is not that hard. For a commuter cycle I think that touring bikes are the best.

KINGSHITOFFUCKMOUNTAIN
lol @ urban outfitter bikes, why not just buy a bike on craigslist, hit up a community bike store, and a couple cans of rusto or belto? ...besides looking like your riding around on a stolen bike. morton
Because you should embrace the technology and use gears.
Snowboarding Panda
and there quite cheap so thought id get one so i can cycle to work. First of all I'm guessing you might be from Europe since the price of those bikes isn't in US dollars. And second, shits not cheap. Even shitty parts can run you up quite a few. Don't get the fixed gear. I sold all my bike parts after the rise of this stupid trend.
twinky the kid
you shouldnt ride a certain type of bikes just to fit in with a certain group of people. just like you shouldnt be a faghag just to get a certain type of woman.
HardyBucks
im not riding a bike to fit in with a certain group of people im getting it because i like it, and anyway hipsters over here dont even ride fixed gears just couriers ride them and over here (ireland) the couriers arent hipsters there smelly crustys. morton
Stinkmouse, do you already have a bicycle? If so what type? Twinky, don't you have to be a woman to be a fag hag? I am not tracking your post.
morton
I credit riding a bicycle with playing a major role in helping me stay sane through a tough patch in my life and would like to get back into it. I whole heartedly endorse riding a bike but have never been able to understand the fixed gear thing. I could give a two fucks about the hipster thing, ride what you want but there should be some underlying reason for it. That being said, road bikes are all that any self respecting person should ride unless they have justification otherwise, for example my friend uses a mountain bike to hunt and that makes sense because you would not want to be out on a logging road with thin tires. Ernie McCracken
Twinky, don't you have to be a woman to be a fag hag? I am not tracking your post. where im from, a faghag is a girl (usually fat, or goth, or a fat goth) that hangs with homos thinking she can sway one. morton
A fag hag is simply a woman who hangs with gay men. Mr. Mouse, I think that you should get a road bike. Is the part of Ireland that you live in paved or is it all rustic with cobble stone roads and shit like a stereotype?
