Big bump. Curious how many of us speak multiple languages though? I’ve dabbled in Japanese years and years ago. Got pretty good since I had a lot of cats around me that was first language for them. Back in college a couple years that’s all I hung out with. Once they left and I lost touch there went the progress.

I’ve always wanted to be better and learn Spanish or something. Only know a little bit of the basics but a brotha tryin heavy now. Got that duolingo goin pretty steady every day. Polish too! (Trying to connect to my whiteness)  lol. That shit is hard’n a mf. Like reeeeal hard lol.

how about y’all? Who’s learned second languages? Learning?? How? What language?  What’s your process been?

polish and spanish is a wild spread! polish is hard, poland is an interesting place and the wimmen are dimes. they are also very eastern european.

i can understand and speak some spanish.. i was closer, once. never did an immersion thing that probably would have sealed the deal. definitely had enough classroom instruction.

Comprehending and reading/writing a language is one thing. Speaking it is a giant barrier to breach. I’m still not the best with speaking it by any means but I can get by. If you guys are genuinely interested, I use this app called italki. It’s full of language tutors who you can video chat with for like $7 a session. I try to push at least an hour minimum of language in my day, bc it’s a game of patience. Rosetta Stone is like $100 and it’s worth it too. Challenging. Babbel is good too.
