sneekatoke
^ i was surprised at the HEB beer choices... had this and this last night. cant complain. chimay was alright, think i prefer duvel though, (and its cheaper..)
count chocula
duvel is dope. if you're like me and prefer duvel over chimay due to the lack of that sweet taste i'd HIGHLY suggest giving orval a try - so good, a bit spicy - very unique brew. ___ the other day:

crime stoppers
duvel is dope. if you're like me and prefer duvel over chimay due to the lack of that sweet taste i'd HIGHLY suggest giving orval a try - so good, a bit spicy - very unique brew i have to agree with this. orval is definately a unique trappist beer worth getting your hands on, i can't quite put my finger on what spice or technique they use to get that distinct flavour. i think they might even use bitter orange and coriander seeds like a gruit, try it if you can. if you haven't tried St. Bernardus, do so as well. count chocula
and this one, wooooooooo daddy like. delicious i'm sold purely on aesthetics at this point, but, tell me more.
the.crooked
I tried one of that series,i think it was matilda, and was not happy. haven't tried any of the others, i'd be more than willing to do so though. and Orval is that shit. have one after 2 years, SO GOOD! on a more local note, the St Arnold's Divine Reserve 10 came out yesterday. Wasn't that good, supposed to be a biritish barleywine. They hyped it as an overhopped barleywine to wild to control. It was hot, had little to no body, and the hops were mild. This beer is not going to be good. Nor will aging help it much. I'm gonna try and sell the rest of my six pack to someone here in houston. Everyone seems to be on the Divine Dick here so I should be able to get something. I have a 6, 8, 9 and now four 10's. Mehh, I don't like them that much. I'd keep the nine as it's the only one that's unique and has aged well. I'll give you all of it for $70. For serious.
sneekatoke
thanks for the suggestion, ill try to find the orval... crook if you know of places that have it in stock in houston pm me, please.. ..as for the saint arnold, i never really dug them that much, though i heard 9 was pretty good... ShortFuse
if in line with duvels and st bernardus then you might want to give this a try. Really any brew from this company is quite nice. I dislike the whole hype over chimay when it comes to certain people. Chimay is good but theres better.
mackfatsoe
the pere jaques, matilda, sofie beers that goose island makes are all really beautiful, agreed I've only had the pere jaques, and I liked it quite a bit. belgian dubbel, it's 8% but the alcohol was hidden well, fairly light and like very faintly sour? the first thing i remember noticing was the slight dark fruit taste. I really liked it...I wish I hadn't been sharing the bottle :/
count chocula
i've had matilda before… remember it having a heavy sweetness - like you said: a 'dark' fruit type feel, cherries/plums type thing. i suck at identifying the roots of flavoUrs ...hahaha
mackfatsoe
same here I know what I like, though. even if i cant describe it

ShortFuse
I do hope youre not trying to say that its a evil beer. Get your facts straight before you post some bs like that. "The Original Meaning The word "swastika" comes from the Sanskrit svastika - "su" meaning "good," "asti" meaning "to be," and "ka" as a suffix. Until the Nazis used this symbol, the swastika was used by many cultures throughout the past 3,000 years to represent life, sun, power, strength, and good luck.
