finishing off school holidays with a bushfire

Looks hectic but between us and the fire is a firebreak made by the railway lines and that hill is pretty steep below the top part so it's nothing too strenuous but the falling embers are a worry. tree next to me drops 2 pounds of leaves a day on my roof so my gutters are packed

Soon we will need an army of firefighters between AU and US, they can just travel back and forth with the fire season.

I hope not but these fires have become larger and more frequent while the expenses are costly not just money wise but land value and so forth.

Not many and there are not really any population base in lots of areas that burn but the jobs are not well paying enough, I don't think, to attract Australian labor.

I have known two dudes who fought fires, one of them was pretty funny. He always had a notebook with him and would write down goals and ideas in it all day long. The other had a tendency to lie, which I did not pick up on for quite some time, every once in a while I catch myself repeating some story of his and have to pause when I remember the source.

Volunteers bro! Generally the government sends a bunch (in all honestly probably more symbolic than anything).

When you see big bushfires in australia like you would have seen last winter all those 1000'sm fo firefighters were almost all volunteers.

A few of these guys probably do it for the free trip to America and because it's probably fun driving round on the bigger trucks you guys drive. Plus at the end of the fire you hit the local bars, lay on the aussie accent a bit thicker, enjoy the free beers and try and fuck any really grateful ladies you come across.
