tango 24 Posted October 16, 2007 Share Posted October 16, 2007 New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma says he is disturbed by reports three year-five students took what are believed to have been ecstasy tablets at a school on the state's South Coast . An 11-year-old girl gave the tablets to two 10-year-old boys at Windang Public School, south of Wollongong, at lunchtime yesterday. The state Education Department says the girl brought them to school, thinking they were lollies. Teachers called 000 after the children complained they were feeling light-headed and had tingling sensations. The children have been released from Shellharbour Hospital. Police have interviewed the parents. Mr Iemma says the Government will adopt any extra measures the police investigation identifies schools need to put in place. "Children that young with a drug like ecstasy - it is a big concern," he said. "The school will be fully cooperating [and] there will be full cooperation with the police. "The teachers and the police took swift and decisive action but it is deeply disturbing." Acting Superintendent Sean Gersbach says the investigation is in the early stages. "Anything's possible - that's the difficulty we've got when you look at what the facts are," he said. "The facts are that at shortly after 12 o'clock yesterday, the three children had in their possession the tablets and they took them.
