GreenFishTALL
Aw man, if you love Little Star and you love BBQ go to the Little Star on Valencia in SF. My buddy makes this amazing BBQ chicken pizza. Its not on the menu, but as long as he's working (tues-fri & sun) you can get it. edit: I just talked to him, that little bitch only makes it for himself. Walks down the street to buy the bbq and goes back in the kitchen. Hopefully they'll throw it on the menu. Its bangin'

BELTOLEUM
love kielbasa. my mom gets it from a russian market, soo good! Yea my great grandparents and grandmother were from poland, so my aunts learned everything and i get really good homemade gołąbki once a year...my city used to be predominantly polish so there are a couple markets really close. Just a food story...my great grandparents used to pitch in with my some of my aunts and grandpa and purchase a whole cow(back in the 50's). They would kill the cow in there garage and divide up what everyone wanted. My great grandmother always asked for the cheeks, bone marrow, and cow tongue. Too bad i was never around for this good, fresh food.
redeyedanimal
livin in the cut has it's advantages. I can get whole cow, pig, goat, any bird, etc delivered to the restaurant i work in. Smoking a whole pig is def worth it, smoked pig's tongue isn't that bad actually.

theprotester
Great story, reminded me of... me! I chuck in with local farmers to get a whole animal butchered (cow/calf/lamb/venison/pig). Don't do it ourselves though, the local butcher is happy to oblige. Has his own cold smoke house too, so it's always a good day out. I'll have to take some snaps next time. I'm also a bit of a wussbag when it comes to offal, so I usually pay the extra folding and get the prime cuts...
