Pfffffffffft

yeah vietnam era was crazy. i saw clips of students like going blow-for-blow with the cops with closed fists. of course the cops would eventually just surround him and club him with nightsticks. we need to get this iraq era protest to jump off. but i doubt it will happen. college kids today are more into myspace and starbucks and listening to beck

I like all the Billy Badasses on this thread ragging on the people who didn't do anything. I bet all of you would've stood there just like all those fags, it's easy to watch a clip on the internet and speculate in hindsight. "Oh I would've done this and that". No, you would've stood there aghast.

That said, if reports are accurate, that shit was completely unwarranted regardless of the kid being a smartass and hopefully the situation gets dealt with as it should. I still think that other clip with the chick that doesn't want to get out of the car getting tazed was deserved.

Most of the riots in the Vietnam War area were started out of cops beating the shit out of numerous kids for no reason, not because some dumbass cant walk out of a library on his own because he forgot his pass. The moment he started to scream and act as if he was not incontrol of his actions, was the moment he lost any control of that situation.

If he would have had a gun on him or any other device it would be very different.

He should have definitely done what he was told. I don't understand how you can be in school and not have anything that identifies you as a student. If not an id, at least a class schedule. When I was in college I forgot my id all the time, but I always carried my class schedule in my wallet, and that was always enough for the campus cops.

The issue here is that the cops abused their authority and used a weapon on a harmless kid, which is in fact breaking their own rules. (Cops still have rules right?) So let's not talk about following instructions.

i think the tazing was unneccessary, yes... but, was this kid the most cooperative person? if someone says "do what we say or we will taze you," which was to simply leave the library. he could've done that. file a report against the school cops' threats later. then he kept saying he was "on his way out" yet he just remained there defiant. the dude wasn't on his way out because he would've been gone. he was being a smart ass

Where do you draw the line between tazering/beating the shit out of someone/and shooting someone... for not being cooperative. How do you not see this as an act of a police state that you can be electrocuted for not jumping when a cop says jump? You must be young as shit or just plain stupid if you think that this is how the cops are supposed to act in this country.

Uh they are cops. If you don't do what they say they DO have that right...

What the fuck they were supposed to sit there and ask him politely to "please leave"..

I don't give a shit what those reports said, it's all reported by a bunch of whiny rich kids trying to act like this is the fucking 60s.

Fuck that hippy he got what he deserved.

escort him out....not cuff him and then taze him......say what you guys want, but youd be saying something different if it happened to you.

a good excuse for tazing him was if he became violent and went at the cops with a weapon or some shit...not tazing him because he refused to leave a library....a fuckin library..hahaha

naw, i'm in my 20's. the cop didn't ask him to "jump" he asked him to get his Che Guevara t-shirt-wearing, Communist Manifesto-reading ass out of the library. why is it no surpise that you're always name-calling folks, and you're always getting into it with someone on here. there must've been at least 5 people on here that you've gotten into heated name-calling arguments within the past 2 days.

your arguments of "police state" would be legitimate if:

a.) the cops never warned him and just tazed him for no reason

b.) it was not against school policy to be in the library without your ID, thus giving no reason for the cops to approach him in the first place.

how about you tell everyone how it should've went down then. if you were the cop what would you have done? you get called up because some idiot is in the library when he isn't supposed to be... and your job is to see to it that he's gone. obviously the staff tried to tell him first and he wouldn't leave, because they wouldn't need to call up like 5 cops if there was no problem. so when you get there and he gives you a hard time you just gonna put your head down and apologize and let him stay, because anything more than a slap on the wrist makes you a fascist nazi footsoldier for the "police state"?

You mean the "rookies"???:haha:

I agree with this part though...

shit, I was half drunk and up for close to 36 hours when I posted that.

What I meant to say was

"Most of the new guys ARE NOT in it to serve and protect, they are just in it to be the one in control."

all cops armed with tazers and pepper spray have to get tazed and pepper sprayed themselves. so they know exactly what the person is feeling

Which is exactly why they told him to get up or get zapped again. Because they knew that he couldn't and they wanted to zap him again.

Mad people on here already told you how it should have went down. He should have just been escorted out the building. But you're so dense with this "fucking hippy commie muslim colledgekid" bigotry that you refuse to listen. I guaruntee your tune would be alot different if that was your little brother getting tazered for forgetting his ID and not leaving the LIBRARY fast enough for the cops ego. Or you mom, or grandmother. You people are just so dense that it's mind boggleing.

They didn't HAVE to tase the guy. They're human police officers employed to serve and protect the interests of the public, not fucking justice robots. So, being that they are human police officers, who I assume are capable of rational through processes and deductive reasoning (we agree on this, right?), something tells me there was a better way to defuse the situation.

Like, how about getting a grip and actually asking yourself if a kid refusing to leave a library without proper identification is an actual THREAT or just someone being hard-headed?

Since when did dealing with people become so mechanically driven towards absolute resolve?

They're cops trying to settle a b.s. miscommunication in a library, not Shogun warriors in futile Japan.

Alright. That was a little dramatic but I'm trying to drive a point home.

Is anybody not convinced that Theo Huxtable is a cop anymore?

i was waiting for your dumb ass to come on this thread.

in case you haven't noticed, several people on this thread shared similar views. i already said the tazering was excessive, but the hippy was being a smartass and he didn't do much to avoid being tazered.
