Elena Delle Donne
campy is beautiful... too nice for me. the specialized aethos: i conceptually like what it is—a less-complicated high end bike that's less anal about "aero, bro." but man. that price point is fucking oppressive
Elena Delle Donne
i'm back. getting my steel frame powder coated this winter, probably a deep copper metallic. i want to check for cracks and any needed metalwork first—not gonna pump more money into this bike if it's not safe. anyone know where to check for cracks? what should i be looking for? KILZ FILLZ
@Elena Delle Donnecheck these welds for cracks. If there is paint, chip it away, don’t sand it off. If you sand it off it’ll be harder to see them. Use a dye in the area of any suspected cracks.

metronome
I won't pretend to know much about that but wouldn't you need the longest rear derailleur ever?

mr.yuck
Hey guys. Some elves did some shitty work on putting the little homies bike together. When you squeeze the back brakes they dont close enough to touch the wheel. Then they also dont release tension when you let go of the brake handle. This is what the back brakes look like if you can help me get this bike on the road.
metronome
Search YouTube for ‘Park Tools rim brake adjustment’ @mr.yuck I’m fairly certain it’s just some small limiter screw adjustments

Dirty_habiT
I think they didn't tension the post springs that the brakes calipers pivot on. @mr.yuckIf this is the case all you need is an allen wrench and an adjustable wrench to fix it. 1
Dirty_habiT
I'd say adjusting brakes properly is easily the most difficult thing to get right on a bicycle that doesn't have gears.
mr.yuck
@Dirty_habiTthe brake system has a like a double plate with a free spinning bearing system so you can spin the handles 180 or 360 without getting the cables all twisted up. Dirty_habiT
oh it has a gyro. That definitely adds to the fuckery in adjusting everything.

For real I told him to take it to a bike shop. I heard an add on the radio like a week ago talking about a full bike tune up including brakes for like $45. Joker
Watched the Cyclocross World Championships in Oostende, Belgium for Elite Women and U23 Men, today. U23 was kinda boring, but still interesting to watch. The Elite Women race was awesome. One of the competitors, Clara Honsinger, is a local racer so every racer in town has been watching her race all season. I was gunning for her to finish on the podium in today's race. Definitely a seat-edger of a race all the way to the end. Tomorrow is the Elite Men and U23 Women. Both races should be really good to watch. The course should be nice and muddy by then, and all the wet sand should make it interesting.
