Photo Development + Law Enforcement Rules

What do you guys do about getting film developed at like 2 hour places?

I dont have a digital camera and am interested in getting a couple of rolls developed, im just worried about if you have action shots ( even if there are no faces ) can they report the photos and send them in to the police or any sort of anti-graffiti enforcers?

Any information would be greatly appreciated,

Hope I put this in the right thread

Don't be a shadey character, and you won't draw attention. I've had approximately 3000 graffiti photographs developed at the local costco, and they almost know me by name now. The manager once told me after developing 10 or so rolls that the colors were "really astounding this time" and that it was beautiful art. Hope for luck, don't act suspicious, and as long as it's not a shot of you bombing a recognizable store, you should be ok.

Guest sneak

i get my way around this by giving the film to someone else to get developed!

ha, but seriously..ive never had a problem with this. i know this girl who used to work at a place that did photos. she said they are only told to keep back child pornography pics or anything like that.

*note, its not illegal to take photos of an illegal activity*

Don't take incriminating action shots!

Buy a digital camera, it's cheaper in the end.

no, but they could theoretically still be seized as evidence.

true, but shit happens. someone i know got busted about 6 years ago for doing fr8s, because of a snoopy photo developer. he looked like an average college guy.

Yeah, this has happened to me a few times too. Did they take the negatives of your photos? Because they've never taken mine.

no i got the negatives, just not copies of certain pictures. maybe it was nothing, it sucked all the same. but still, i never use a real name when developing pictures.

...don't fill the roll with all of your stuff...most people at photo labs can't tell the difference between one burner and another but it's best not to give them a whole roll of one name anyway...i wouldn't suggest sending it out...get it done in one hour instead...if you send it out then it allows more time for people to look at them and possibly confiscate pictures...but if you do them there you can pick them up before they even have a chance to think twice about it...remember most people are lazy and don't give a crap about anyone else...pay with cash...

I don't agree with this. On the one in a hundred shot the 1-hour technician calls the cops, they know when and where to pick you up (1 hour, right there).

If you drop it off for overnight or 2-day, it is usually picked up by courier and developed at a big lab that does all the same chain stores in the area. If they decide it's suspect, how are they going to catch you personally? They'd have to stake out the store location you sent it in from - for days (or weeks, if you want to keep them waiting), and meanwhile brief every employee on every shift to call the manager when so-and-so (your fake name) shows up to collect his pictures, or flag you as the guy caught on camera picking up that package (and they'd still have to grab you coming out of the store because your real name and address aren't on the package). It's too much of a hassle.

You could lose flicks either way. But your chances of actually being stopped and questioned by 5-0 about the film are more remote if you send the film overnight.

I have gotten lazy once in a while (or I was traveling) and done the 1-hour, and most of the time I get compliments on the pictures. It gives your average photo technician a break from looking at roll after roll of dumb people at their fucking family barbeque, so they appreciate a change. It's the occasional Joe Hero you have to worry about.

I worked for a 1 hour lab for almost 2 years. You're playing a huge game of chance. First off, if you're choosing to do the one hour development, it's probably in your best interest to use fake information. At the lab I worked at, throughout the week you have about 5-6 people working the lab (varies place to place). When I worked I can say that one definatly, possibly 2 of these people would be acting real strange if you had action shots and shit. People love drama and they love the possibility of being a hero. Technically, most stores have a pretty lax policy on shit unless it has to do with child abuse, child pornography, or just really bizarre shit. There are some privacy policies involved, so most of the time unless it is something really crazy, noone is going to get on a phone and call the cops, but there is always a chance.

Sending out is always a better option.. #1, its about 2 dollars cheaper..#2, the outside labs the film gets send to deals more in volume, so again, unless theres kiddie porn, most likely noone is going to give a fuck...

im tired of writing...

use fake names, send out, dont look like a creep.

DO NOT USE YOU REAL NAME ADRESS OR PHONE DIGITS. A close friend had a roll of flim in this dudes car the night they were bombing, and they got caught and now he is in some shit, because of self-incriminating evidence, its ok to develop them, ive done it plenty of times, but dont be stupid use fake names and etc....

OMG they cant do shit all of u shut the fuck up, if a pic has someone in it, they have no evidence, unless they are painting, that the person in the photo is guilty, if it really bothers u all get a digi, otherwise get off my lawn

i worked in an eckerd lab for two years in high school. great time. all the people were cool. developed hundreds of flicks there. developed other peoples graff flicks. got a ton of free cameras/film. the crew stayed loving it. i was actually pretty enthusiastic when i was there. customers would come in with big smiles anxious to see the captured moments of their lives on a 4 by 6. after my first two weeks of work, i was closing the whole photo section by myself. i was sixteen and was pretty hyped up at the fact that i was pretty much running the show. lord know why after only two weeks of working there that they were entrusting me with all of this money and responsibility. had to quit because of college.

thanks a bunch.

not a huge deal unless you are REALLY HOT

I put my real name, developed hundreds to thousands of fliks (many illegal) never had a problem. So what if you flik some graffiti? You could be doing a school project, you could be working as a detective, who knows. Though, I'm considering using a fake name 'just in case'. Don't forget the name though. Once I put a fakie down in haste and when I came back and they asked for the name I forgot for a minute. Oooh boy, pretty awkward!
