gfreshsushi
i went to (what i'm pretty sure was) the graphotism shop when i was in england and they had everything you could ever want at medium to high prices, but it was in the middle of nowhere and i was traveling by public transit, so i only got a few pens and streaks. granted that was five years ago, but usually stores don't get cheaper over time. pearl art supply is a national chain in the usa, and they have tons of shit you might want. i know they have locations in both nyc and sf, i'm assuming elsewhere. luggage store gallery on market at 7th in sf has hosted several twist shows, as well as a recent os gemeos venture. always good, but go during daylight after the show has already been open for a couple days to avoid the hipster crowd. oh, and it's free. in the east bay, check out 510 skateboarding on dwight and telegraph in berkeley. skate goods and clothing, plus a window display that showcases different artists. bigfoot had a thing in there, but most of the shit is local kids that have a knack for art or design. east bay center for creative reuse on san pablo at ashby in berkeley is a great spot for you arty types. remember your kindergarden teacher who always made you do projects with tons of crazy knick knacks? this iswhere she bought all of it. they have a bookcase filled with individual vinyl letters, an oil drum filled with zippers, etc. usually they've got mops or bingo dabbers around, but you gotta dig for em. dirt fucking cheap too. i bought a gallon of paint, unopened, some stamps, a few rolls of blank stickers, and some other miscellaneous crap for about $8. all the crap is donated, the people who work there are volunteers, and all the proceeds go to the berkeley school district. tons of art supply stores in the area, just gotta check em out. hope this is helpful... fermentor666
Boston Some good places to consume in Boston, MA. Don't really have address specifics. Movies - Video Underground, Centre St. Jamaica Plain - All sorts of cult films and local films as well as a few mainstream titles. THE place to rent from if you are a film buff. They'll order anything for you. Viper Video, Commonwealth Ave, by Washington St. Brighton - Tons of terrible titles interspersed with the few good films. An extensive vintage 80s/90s porn selection, buyable. Cheap rental prices, too. 1.00 Tuesdays and Thursdays. Coolidge Corner Theater, Harvard St. Brookline - Great Non-Profit Independant film house. Good midnight shows on weekends. Art - Pearl Art, Mass Ave. Cambridge - I know chains shouldn't be mentioned but if you want Belton or Molotov this is the only place you can get it in this city. Be ready to shell out 8 dollars a can though (not for me sorry). This is probably the largest art store in the city, also. Books - Harvard Book Store, Mass Ave. Cambridge - Lots of good intellectually stimulating books about intellectually stimulating topics, populated by intellectually stimulated people. Real academia stuff and a lot of "liberal media" books. Not a bad thing. Bars - Hahahahahahahaha. Music - Funky Fresh Records, Roxbury - Hard to find but they got a ton of bling bling Hip Hop and local shit. Smash City, Newbury St. Boston - Dunno if these guys are still open but they have a lot of used cds, lps, and 7 inches. Cheapo Records, Mass Ave, Cambridge - Tons and tons of records. Welcome to Boston, now get out. :P

-Rage-
K-pants... Don't forget TLA Video . An award-winning group of 6 video stores in Philadelphia and New York City, the stores are renowned for their vast and varied selection along with a knowledgeable and dedicated staff. In Philadelphia, where TLA operated the city's premiere repertory movie theatre from 1981-87, the name is synonymous with movies that are hip, foreign, alternative and otherwise not in the mainstream. Our stores serve thousands of people weekly in their quest for the perfect video - served up, of course, with a smile and a flair for the unconventional. Lil Bro G
In Winnipeg, the best place to go is URBAN BAKERY, they sell graff markers, caps, videos, dvd's, montana paints, meanstreaks, lowrider bikes, turntables and records, clothing and bongs and pipes. Amazing place, everybody is so mellow, good atmosphere, I dont know the adress but all you have to do is go eastbound on Portage Avenue until you get to Portage Place Shopping Mall and is right across the street. You'd be suprised. Canada is way more 'hip' that the states by population. Sure there's backwater places up here too, but think that there's about a hundred million more clueless yokels in your country than in mine. No offence of course. Sure there's burbs and sure there's farms but most major city in canada is 'cooler' than the US perspective would lead you to think.
