I don’t think closed accounts effect you for the full 7 years. I think it will just screw up your total average credit length. For example if you have 2 cards, 1 for 10 years and 1 for 2 years, your average account would be 6 years. If you shut down the 10 year card your average account would only be 2 years and could cause your account to nose dive.
