i know we've talked about this, but for me the whole singular pro to cans is the sheer camp-ability of the product. oskar blues started putting "pack it in/pack it out" on the cans to promote it.

it always infuriates me to find broken glass at trailheads, campsites, in streams or rivers, and just anywhere but the trash.

i don't think cans affect the flavor enough to change the experience vs a bottle, but if you ever get the chance to have oskar blues on draft, do it.

how're things mr chupa?

Not too bad. I just moved out to Denver last week. You back in afghanistan or on leave, and how much longer are you out there for? i owe you a package of some sort. Are CDs, MP3 cds, or cassettes the preferred listening format? Also, when the fuck did you get married? Jon told me it was right before you deployed, but i had no idea.

"This release weighs in at 11% ABV. Let it warm to at least 50° before enjoying. This beer is black with some ruby highlights. The nose is full of pumpkin pie spices and some alcohol. There are notes of nutmeg, caraway and vanilla. The taste starts with chocolate malt with a hint of spice and rolls into a warm spicy alcohol taste which has the effect of creating the balance that usually comes from the hop bitter. There is some hop bitter on the finish, but not much. Overall, this beer finishes relatively dry for such a big beer. As it warms, the spices move forward in the taste and the chocolate moves to the finish. The pumpkin provides a pleasant undertone and a round mouthfeel. The spices will probably fade some over time; they have mellowed considerably since we first tasted DR9 in the fermenter"

brewed in harrisburg, pa by troegs brewing co. 11% holiday madness.

Holy-Sheet-298.gif

brewed in baltimore by clipper city brewing co. 9% greatness.

don't know if either of these have been posted yet, but try to find some if you can for the holidays because i don't really know how far their distribution reaches, but I'm lucky enough to live close enough to both of these towns to get them.

word, my brother lives in cali and i send him a case of mad elf every holiday because it is truly awesome. definitely pricey, but you can get cases of 12oz or 22oz bottles, which is just dangerous. Most bars in town that serve it cut people off on that particular beer pretty quick too. If it wasn't so expensive to send shit like that, i'd send you some to enjoy because both of those brews do it well.

Having an Orval. Anyone? Don't know what to make of it. I've seen it receive good reviews/ratings over time. I've had a few here and there, never thought it met its true potential. 6.9% from Belgium. It's highly carbonated, good nose, but I think the head you get on the pour ruins it a bit. A bit pricey too.
