Then I drank

Which was fantastic and then drank this:

Cant find a photo of is. Some Flemish ale. It was not good. Not because it was supposed to be sour but because they did it very poorly.

I also had a six month aged:

it was fantastic. A lot smoother than the new one. I have another one in the closet waiting for the year mark.

If you want to look into how an unknown beer is, your best bet is going onto beeradvocate.com . Not saying people shouldn't give a quick rundown of obscure beers if they want to, but the write ups and reviews on there are generally quite good. If you really know your beers, look for the reviews that break it down into appearance, aroma/smell, taste/flavor, mouthfeel, and drinkability, since those are usually the most descriptive and helpful.

I'm in a new location for awhile and finally have access to beers i could never find in minneapolis. So psyched that they have Stone beers around here since i've only had oaked arrogant bastard and none of their other beers.

Decided to pass on the Stone tonight since the little store i went to only had their Pale ales and i wasn't in the mood. I'll be hitting up bigger liquor stores and going nuts soon though and reporting back.

For tonight:

Which i've never had, but have heard good things about

and

Lake Louie Warped Speed Scotch Ale

Never even heard of the brewing company, its in some little town in Wisconsin, but it sounded good and upon reading reviews its sounding very promising.

IF YOU POST AN OBSCURE/FANCY BEER, YOU HAVE TO SAY HOW IT TASTES.

Also, I hate beers with twist tops.

haha, most, if not all of my posts in this thread discuss taste. I got all those for this upcoming weekend... it's kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiillllllllllliiinngggg me to not break into the stash until tomorrow afternoon. Reviews to come on Sunday night or Monday morning, when the hangover wears off.

ive never tried a scotch ale.. whats it taste like?

Scotch Ale is fairly dark and really malty. Kind of sweet malt flavor with some roasted crystal/caramel malt flavor. It isn't very hoppy, but there is a little hop bite at the end, the kind of thing you feel in the back of your throat. No homo.

It's also called wee heavy.

dark chocolate caramel goodness, with a kick of bourbon. reminds me of the backwood's bastard that founders makes.

though i like the founders better this is really good. don't go nuts though because its easy to pass out after a few of these.
