I'll be using the lens mostly for skateboarding photos, but I figured I should test drive it a bit. The results - a mostly fisheye day in pies. At the camera store, trying before buying. One of my other lenses, shot with new lens. Father Chupa rockin' some not so serious bling. My parents came into town for the weekend, and were kind enough to haul a trailer with some furniture, paintings, and other assorted shit that belonged to my grandparents before they passed away. My dad and I took a few hours out of the afternoon to go play disc golf at a gorgeous park. A giant open field near the parking lot of the park. The mansion in the back was built in 1910. I was too lazy to swap lenses to get a better shot from this angle. More mansion. Old Man Chupa whipping a sidearm throw. Obligatory fisheye canopy shot. Awesome tree. Decided we had enough for one day, and went into lounge mode. Dicked around with the new lens/flash some more and shot a handful of photos of my cats Yet another shot of another lens. Testing out how close I could get and still stay in focus. This couldn't have been taken from much more than an inch away. Had a smoke, came inside, resized and uploaded photos, posted them here. I got the 10.5mm 2.8 DX, since I really only shoot digital these days as I no longer have access to a darkroom. Then, since I lucked out and got the lens used, I figured I might as well go big and splurge on a SB-600 too. MrChupacabra Posted September 6, 2010 Share Posted September 6, 2010 Yeah, I snagged a $15 Promaster diffuser, but decided to hold off on gels for the time being. They're pretty cheap though, so I'll probably get around to it sooner or later. I'm still kinda baffled by the whole TTL flash thing, since prior to this the only flash I'd used was an ancient vivitar that was passed down to me by my dad. It was powerful and definitely nice in it's day, but it had a tendency to not do what it was supposed to anymore. From the little bit that i've played with the sb600, it seems like an enormous upgrade from trial and error to the flash knowing exactly what I want it to do a good chunk of the time.
