id say you have an 80 % chance of it being oil based.

only graff ink ive bought has been D*E*D and oink,

so i really dunno

nah im pretty sure its xylene or alcohol based.

oink is alcohol based aswell.

most GOOD inks are oil based though, becasue theyre kind of a mix, highly pigmented like DED with lot of stainers too. And with oil based inks its a lot easier to find binders to suspend pigments

So I'm fairly new to making ink. Shit this is actually my first time trying, and it's been fun so far. I'm actually using the alcohol-based recipe lasek posted a couple pages back involvin' shellac and denatured alcohol. I've got the carbon all ground up and had a question involving a stainer suggestion.

What the hell is "GV?" Please don't think I didn't try searchin' it, but going off just an abbreviation is kind of hard.. I'm familiar with that methyl blue stuff, but am interested in getting this mysterious "GV." Any input would help!

gv is gentian violet, its the purple stuff that comes in lil bottles, does the same thing as iodine, u can find it in teh band aid isle SOMETIMES.

its also the only stainer in garvey. garvey is basically highly concentrated gv.

The indoorsman is a good ink. Certainly not the greatest ink ever, but nowhere near the worst either. Personally I prefer Oink + Pilot, but DED won't hurt any sound ink mixture, whether you're adding it to your own mix, a flebings mix, another ink. It'll work fine straight up, even.

yea oink n pilot shud be good.

basically, to make a good ink out of brand inks, just take any pigmented ink :

DED outdoors

pilot

marsh

ect

then mix it with any hard staining/ mostly dye based ink:

garvey-best(its legit only dye and solvwnts)

oink

corio

grog

whatever floats ur boat

yea it dissolves in alcohol and is kinda like sunscreen for inks. they use it in plastic packaging to make the products not fade.

and i have used it...but i only use like half a spoonful per ink mix, so 1000g lasts a long time. PM me if u want some, i want cash, brand name markers, or caps!
