publicenemyno.3
wised up and started shopping for old pentax lenses instead of breaking the bank to buy new. got this 28 2.8 today and went out to pop off a few shots.
Internerd
what is that last place? looks kinda weird to be abandoned It was going to be a hotel but never opened. Stopped construction in 2004. Most likely because of the 2004 Bali bombing. Only got to explore for an hour or so before a security guard came at me wielding a hammer

Doodle
fackk sorry for the double post I did the Baptism on Sunday, it went alright, thank you to everyone who gave some advice! The lighting was difficult to work with. I wasn't too happy with the results but i am very critical as i think everyone is on their own work, the couple however loved the photos! Here are two of the photos, one from the church and one from the banquet hall. all i had was the on camera flash, i liked this slow sync one though. You live and you learn. That unfinished hotel that intranerd posted looks cool to explore!
jbrshmonster
Got daily's zine today and the 2 prints! Great job man, i want to go to Japan! forgot i got mine the a few days ago, thanks dailyops! i'll definitely send you some stuff back! props doodle, good shots. it's kind of tough, you never know what you're end up with. I shot a friend's (really small) wedding, first time for anything like that. Ended up pretty good.
Deine Mudder
he's mentioned before he knows someone who does repairs... I don't know where you are, but over here you'd get like two AE-1 bodies in good condition (either eBay or local stores) for the money it'd take to repair the old one. doodle - good to hear things went well. keep going! Doodle
I was looking to get an AE-1 off of craigslist, and people here are selling AE-1 and the 55mm 1.8 lens for like $80 (CAD). I think if you can find a deal like that you are better off buying one. I went to walk around downtown last night and these two dudes are always rocking away! wafflecakee
An AE-1 would be the last film slr I'd want to shoot. They're the most prone to break. Look for any olympus om, nikon fe's or fm's. (electronic, mechanical) Minolta x700's, pentax k1000's. Anything but an ae-1. The lenses on all these other cameras are better too. Doodle, that's cool but I'd say get closer and wider. for talking... skate by inhale kilz, on Flickr fake plastic trees by inhale kilz, on Flickr show by inhale kilz, on Flickr

This is over thirty years old, shot god knows how many rolls of film, is still in use, and I never had any issues other than replacing batteries or light seals. I also shot a bit with friends' Pentax k1000 (really liked it, though it feels a bit small), Nikon FM2 (loved it), and an Olympus I don't remember (also very nice). My point is that they all make good cameras. Nikon having the best optics, in general, but saying that "the lenses on all these other cameras are better (than Canon)" is bullshit. The 50/1.4 shown above is an awesome lens, for example, read some reviews. I bought that, used, with warranty, in mint condition, for $45 (!) some years ago. I'm biased, as I shot mostly Canon the last 10 years, If I had been given a Nikon then that would have been the path, and I would have liked that too. The thing is, if you want to buy an analogue 35mm now, Canon is a really good option, the quality is great, and there are still millions of bodies and lenses out there - which means low prices. publicenemyno.3
Here's a few from the wedding my wife and I shot a few weeks back. It was a lot more physically taxing than I thought it would be. Other than that, the experience was pretty much in line with what I expected. I learned that I really suck at telling people where to stand for posed shots. Big up MN1 for the solid advice on lighting and some direction on where to go to rent it. Bonus drunken rooftop shot from last weekend. I get a few beers in me and all of a sudden I start climbing on buildings.

qsysue
I wasn't sure where to post this so I'm just sticking it in this thread. I made a zine and copies are now available: It's mostly train graffiti but also includes my non-graff photography and some contributions by other benchers and railroad types. It's really big, I had to hand-bind it because staples wouldn't fit. Each copy comes with a 4x6 print and a pull-tab cover. Copies can be ordered here: http://strangepulse.bigcartel.com/ Or PM me/email me if you don't want to use the shopping cart. strangepulsezine@gmail.com Daily I'd be up for a trade if you have any of yours left. Or anyone else who has a zine to trade!
